To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav David (note 1: Rav D. Helman. See, regarding him, letter no. 6980),

I greet you and bless you,

After a particularly long interruption, I duly received your letter of 9 Teves*, which presumably was sent by ordinary mail. Naturally, I read with pleasure, in the article that was enclosed, your memories of times past. In conformity with the affirmation of our Sages* according to which: "one counsels eagerness to those who naturally possess this quality," you will surely emphasize to those in your surroundings the lesson that can be drawn from these testimonies. Indeed, according to our Torah*, Torah* of life, the purpose of remembrance is to draw from it increased motivation in this matter and, in this case, for the domains you mention — those for which you gave of yourself (note 2: In Soviet Russia). This is quite evident. May Hashem grant that you experience success in this matter as well.

Moreover, we are approaching the propitious day of the Hilula* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, which will be the coming 10th of Shevat*. You envision the publication of your articles presenting these testimonies. It seems to me that I have already written to you that here, this is complicated and difficult. Furthermore, no platform exists for publishing them in the Holy Language. On the other hand, in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, the publication of several testimonies about Chabad* and what concerns it has recently begun (note 3: In the framework of the youth organ of the Chabad* association in the Holy Land, the Bitaon Chabad*). With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

לאחרי הפסק הכי ארוך נתקבל מכתבו, מט' בטבת - שכנראה הלך בדואר

רגיל - וכמובן נעם לי לקרות במאמר המצורף לו רשימת זכרונות מימי קדם, ומיוסד על מאמר חז"ל אין מזרזין אלא למזורזין, בודאי שמעורר את הנמצאים בסביבתו על המוסר השכל מזכרונות אלו [שהרי כוונת ענין הזכרון ע"פ תורתנו תורת חיים הוא להביע תוספת התעוררות וחיות בהענינים אודותם מדובר וכו' ובכגון זה עליהם מסר נפשו זה שאותו מזכירים וק"ל], ויהי רצון שיצליח גם בזה מתוך מנוחה שמחה וטוב לבב.

ובפרט אשר מתקרבים אנו ליום סגולה יום הילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר עשירי בשבט הבע"ל.

לכתבו ע"ד הדפסת מאמרים זכרונות וכו' - כמדומה כבר כתבתי שכאן מסובך הענין וקשה [בפרט בלה"ק - אין כלל במה מתאימה]. והרי באה"ק ת"ו התחילו לאחרונה להדפיס כמה מזכרונות ע"ד חב"ד ועניניו.
