To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Dovid (note 1: Rav D. Chanzin. See, regarding him, letter no. 4762),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 26 Shevat*, as well as to those that preceded it. You mention the change of vacation dates (note 2: In the schools of the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch* network in the Holy Land). Very often, in such a case, an intervention, even if it bears fruit, only allows one to reduce them (note 3: The vacations), which does not mean that one will be able to continue studies during the usual vacation periods by taking them at another time, but rather that these studies are purely and simply eliminated during both periods at once (note 4: The official vacations and those one would have liked to have). Nevertheless, the matter remains doubtful and perhaps the conditions are different in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt. You will therefore continue what has been done until now and what must be maintained. On the other hand, one may ask what will result from a new initiative and whether it is justified. Naturally, this remark is valid only if the change is made in a few schools only. On the other hand, if it is adopted by all the schools, or at least by all those that are religious, there will be no risk.

I await good tidings of your communal accomplishments and your personal concerns. We are approaching the month of Adar*, whose central point is the holiday of Purim*, when "it was reversed." All blockages, obstacles, and veils are therefore transformed and they come to one's aid. You will therefore announce to me good tidings of what has been said and of everything in general, in abundance. I duly received your requests for blessings. With my blessing to give good tidings,

במענה למכתבו מכ"ו שבט והקודמיו.

לכתבו אודות שינוי זמן החופש - הנה ברוב הפעמים בכגון דא, אף כשמצליחים בהשתדלות, הוא רק להמעיט, ז. א. לא שבחופש הרגיל עד עתה לומדים ולוקחים חופש בזמן אחר, כ"א שלא לומדים לא אז ולא אז. בכל זה כיון שהדבר בספק ואפשר שהתנאים באה"ק ת"ו בכלל שונים הם, הנה הנעשה עד עתה ומכריח להמשך ימשיכו בזה, אבל השתדלות חדשה צריך עיון בהתוצאות מזה אם כדאיות הן, ומובן שבד"א באם שינוי החופש יהי' רק באיזה מהבתי ספר, אבל באם יש מקום לומר שישנו בכל הבתי ספר עכ"פ בכל בתי ספר ממ"ד, אז בטל חשש האמור...

ואצפה לבשו"ט בענינים הכללים ובעניניו הפרטים ובעמדנו בסמיכות לחדש אדר, אשר הנקודה התיכונה בו ימי הפורים אשר ונהפוך הוא, שכל המונעים מסתירים ומעלימים נהפכים למסייעים, הנה יבשר טוב בהאמור ובכלל - בריבוי.
