I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter, in which you envisage different ways of continuing your studies, taking into account your current difficulties in this matter. You write to me, in your letter, that you could, in this class, devote your entire day to sacred studies, and then continue to do so afterward (note 1: After the school day), for another hour or hour and a half, with a teacher (note 2: In private lessons). This is perfectly judicious, but it is also very useful, including after that (note 1), to have a study partner or a relative with whom you can review your studies and verify that you have understood them well, rather than learning new material. May Hashem grant you the success of being among the first, of showing the Chassidim* and all our brethren, the children of Israel, in Melbourne and throughout all of Australia in general, that a young man who is, like every Jewish child, a descendant of Avraham*, Yitzchak*, and Yaakov*, must devote several years exclusively to sacred studies. First of all, it is in this way that he will embark on the good path, that he will prepare himself to lead a happy existence, not only spiritually, but also materially. Furthermore, it is thus that his parents, his good friends, and the directors of the Yeshivah* will derive from him much satisfaction, a true satisfaction.

You also write to me that you would like to go and continue your studies in a Yeshivah*, in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, or else here. Nevertheless, if you adopt the arrangement described above, remaining in Melbourne for another year or two, you will strengthen within yourself the conduct that has just been described, that which a young Chassidic* man must have. It is only after that that you will envisage what follows in this manner (note 3: By going to one of these Yeshivos*). May Hashem grant that you accomplish all of this with joy and enthusiasm. Your parents will derive from you much true satisfaction, that is to say, a Jewish and Chassidic* satisfaction. With my blessing to give good tidings, as well as for a Kosher* and joyous festival of Pesach*,

במענה למכתבך בו אתה כותב סברות שונות בנוגע לאופן המשך

לימודיך בקשר לקשיים שבסדר הנוכהי בזה.

נכונה מאוד היא הסברא שאתה כותב במכתבך ,שתלמד בכתה זו

לימודי קדש כל היום ,וגם אחר כך להמשיך בלימודי קדש ,כפי שאתה

כותב שעה או שעה וחצי עם מישהו בתור מורה .אבל גם נחוץ מאד שגם

אחר כך יהי׳ לך חבר ,או גם מבוגר יותר ,שעמו תחזור את הנלמד מכבר

ולדעת טוב ,ולא ללמוד דברים חדשים.

והשם יתברך יצליח אותך להיות מהראשונים ,להראות במלבורן

ובאוסטרלי׳ בכלל ,לאנ״ש וגם לכל אחינו בני ישראל ,שבחור ,שכל ילד

יהודי נקרא בן אברהם יצחק ויעקב ,צריך ללמוד לכל הפחות כמה שנים

רק לימודי קדש ,מלבד זאת שזה מעמידו ברמה מתאימה ומכין אותו

להיות מאושר בחיים ,לא רק ברוחניות אלא גם בגשמיות ,ולרוות ממנו

נחת ,נחת אמיתי ,הן ההורים ,הידידים והנהלת הישיבה בכלל.

מה שאתה כותב אודות נסיעה ללמוד בישיבה באה״ק ת״ו או כאן.

לאחר שתחזיק בסדר האמור בהיותך במלבורן שנה או שתים ,שע״י

זה תתחזק ההנהגה האמורה שבחור יהודי צריך לנהוג כן ,אזי תבוא

בחשבון גם ההצעה שלך ,כאמור לעיל.

ויהי רצון שתעשה זאת בשמחה ובטוב לבב ,והוריך שי׳ יקבלו ממך

רוב נחת אמיתי ,שזהו נחת יהודי חסידי.
