By the grace of Hashem,

1st day of Rosh Chodesh* Tammuz* 5721,

I greet you and bless you,

After an interruption, I duly received your letter of the eve of Rosh Chodesh* Tammuz*, in which you discuss the continuation of your son's studies. I am surprised that you are questioning what is perfectly clear. It is quite evident that he must go to a Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*, the one that will suit him best, in Montreal or in New York. Perhaps he should investigate both places in order to determine which is the most suitable. You say that it will be difficult for you to envisage additional expenses (note 1: For the payment of tuition). Nevertheless, remember the self-sacrifice that everyone displayed in the country where we were previously (note 2: In Soviet Russia), so that the children would follow the straight path of Judaism and of Chassidus*, even though it cost money and health (note 3: Due to the persecutions). Everyone was then ready to give their life, in the most literal sense. What are, compared to all of that, financial difficulties, when at stake is an education that will condition his entire existence?

Moreover, Jews are "believers, children of believers" in our holy Torah*, Torah* of life, one of whose teachings specifies that expenses for children to study the Torah* are specifically covered by Hashem, as our Sages* state in tractate Beitzah* 16a, adding furthermore on this subject: "if he adds, it is added to him" (note 4: If the expenses are increased, the blessing is increased proportionally). I hope that you participate, to every extent possible, in the dissemination of the wellsprings (note 5: Of Chassidus*) to the outside, which is also the channel and the receptacle for receiving the blessing of Hashem in your needs. ותמיהני השאלה בענין ברור כזה, שבטח שצ"ל באחת הישיבות תומכי תמימים, כפי שנוח לפניו, אם במאנטרעאל או בנויארק, ואפשר טוב שיחקור בשני המקומות לדעת מה מתאים יותר לפניו.

להזכרתו ע"ד הקישוים לקחת על עצמו עוד הוצאות - בטח בזכרו המס"נ שהי' במדינתו לפנים לכאו"א שהבנים ילכו בדרך הישר של יהדות וחסידות, אף שקשור הי' לא רק בכסף ועניני בריאות כי אם עד מסירת נפש ממש ר"ל, מה ערך הוא לזה הקישוים בכסף, בשביל החינוך הנוגע למשך כל ימי החיים.

ובפרט שכל ישראל מאמינים בני מאמינים בתורתנו הק' תורת חיים, שאחת ההוראות שלה, שלהוצאות בניו לתלמוד תורה נותנים לזה מלמעלה ביחוד (ביצה ט"ז ריש ע"א) וכמאמר רז"ל שם, אם הוסיף מוסיפין לו.
