Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7684 — Faith & Bitachon

By the grace of Hashem,

Rosh Chodesh* Tammuz* 5721,

month of the redemption,

To the distinguished young men who are accepting the yoke of the divine Sovereignty, of the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, and, first and foremost, the wearing of Tefillin*, to which the entire Torah* is compared (note 1: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "Tractate Kiddushin* 35a"),

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I learned with great pleasure that you have organized a celebration because you have begun to wear the Tefillin*. Our Sages* have delivered to us the following teaching (note 2: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "Tikkunei Zohar*, at Tikkun* 47"): "Come and see! Referring to all those who wear the Tefillin* on the head and on the arm, a voice proclaims to all the angels of the Heavenly Chariot, to those who are appointed over the prayers of Israel: 'Honor the one who bears the image of the King, who wears the Tefillin*!'"

May Hashem grant that you accept upon yourselves the yoke of the Torah* and that of the Mitzvos*, with joy and enthusiasm. Indeed, one fulfills the Torah* and the Mitzvos* with submission (note 3: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "Zohar*, volume 3, page 108. Tanya*, chapter 41") and, precisely, when our entire people was obligated to practice the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, near Mount Sinai*, they proclaimed: "We will do and then we will understand." Yet, this yoke is good and pleasant, for "there is no good other than the Torah*" (note 4: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "Tractate Avos*, chapter 6, Mishnah* 13"). Moreover, its study leads to action, to the practice of the Mitzvos*, and to good deeds (note 5: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "See the Torah Or*, at the beginning of Megillas Esther*, page 90c").

It is said that: "You shall walk in My statutes and you shall keep My Mitzvos*... I will give" all the blessings that are enumerated in the Parshah*. May Hashem therefore grant that you fully conform your conduct to what has just been said. Then, Hashem will fulfill His promise and you will be blessed in all your needs, material and spiritual alike. With my blessing of success in the study of the Torah*, of its revealed part and of Chassidus*, as well as in the practice of its Mitzvos*,

ועול תומ"צ, וכל לראש - הנחת תפילין,

שהוקשה כל התורה כולה לתפילין

בעונג רב קבלתי הידיעה על דבר החגיגה בקשר עם התחלתם להניח תפילין,

אשר הודיעונו חז"ל: תא חזי כל מאן דאנח תפלין על רישי' ועל דרועי', קלא סליק בכל יומא לכל חיוון מרכבות ואופנים ושרפים ומלאכים דממנן על צלותין הבו יקר לדיוקנא דמלכא דאיהו מאן דאנח תפלין.

ויהי רצון שתקבלו עליכם עול התורה ועול המצות בשמחה ובטוב לבב.

כי אף שקיום התומ"צ צריך להיות בקבלת עול דוקא, וכמו שהי' בעת שהגיע כללות עמנו בני ישראל לעול תורה ומצות, במעמד הר סיני, שהקדימו נעשה לנשמע, אבל יחד עם זה עול נעים וטוב הוא, כי אין טוב אלא תורה, ולימוד התורה הרי מביא לידי מעשה, קיום המצות, מעשים טובים.

ומתאים למה שנאמר בחוקותי תלכו ואת מצותי תשמרו גו' ונתתי גו' ככל הברכות המנויות בפרשה, יהי רצון שתתנהגו בהתאם להאמור ככל הדרוש, וימלא השי"ת הבטחתו שתתברכו בכל המצטרך בגשם וברוח גם יחד.
