By the grace of Hashem,

2nd day of Rosh Chodesh* Tammuz* 5721,

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter (note 1: This letter was sent to several people). Today is Rosh Chodesh* Tammuz*, "head" (note 2: The meaning of the word Rosh*) and not merely the beginning of this month. As the beginning of the Ateres Rosh*, by the Mitteler Rebbe*, explains, just as the head contains within it all the limbs, one can say the same of this Rosh Chodesh*, which carries within it, in particular, the propitious days of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, the liberation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, our leader. Now, "the body follows the head," which alludes to all the persons who are connected to him, as the second chapter of the Tanya* explains.

May Hashem therefore grant that each person be liberated, within all of Israel, from everything that obstructs, veils, and conceals. With joy and enthusiasm, you will assume your mission, as it is defined by the Sages*, in the Mishnah*: "I was created to serve my Creator" and solely for this purpose, which concerns specifically the children of Israel, as stated at the end of chapter 6 of tractate Avos*. Moreover, the expression "Blessed is your Creator" refers to the world of Atzilus* (note 3: This relationship therefore reveals the highest disclosure), according to the Siddur* of the Arizal*. You will consult, on this subject, tractate Rosh Hashanah* 31a. And, the Midrash* Bereishis* Rabbah, at the end of chapter 3, states: "On the first day (note 4: Of creation), the Holy One, blessed be He, was alone in His world" (note 5: No one could therefore serve Him).
