Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7689 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

6 Tammuz* 5721,

I greet you and bless you,

I am very surprised that you tell me nothing of your efforts to disseminate the wellsprings (note 1: Of Chassidus*), in addition to your Tanya* classes. It is clear that this accomplishment provides (note 2: This Tanya* class) great satisfaction and there is no need to explain its great value, its immense importance. Nevertheless, our Sages* emphasize that each person must act "as he should," according to his own strength and possibilities, rather than in comparison to others who do less. Now, in light of your aptitudes and your capacities, it is clear that you could do much more in this matter. This is self-evident.

We are in the period that precedes the festival of liberation (note 3: Of the Frierdiker Rebbe*, from the Soviet prisons) of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, which is approaching, and the history of this particular period is well known — the self-sacrifice displayed by the one whose liberation we celebrate, especially for the dissemination of the wellsprings. With my blessing to give good tidings and on the occasion of the festival of liberation,

... לפלא גדול שאינו מזכיר מפעולותיו בהפצת המעינות, נוסף על שיעורי התניא - שאף שכמובן הענין גורם נחת רוח מרובה, ואין צורך לבאר גודל ערכו וחשיבותו, אבל הודיעונו חז"ל שצ"ל כמאן דבעי למעבד בכאו"א לפי כחו ויכולתו הוא, ולא בערך לאחרים העושים פחות, ולפי כשרונותיו ויכולתו בודאי שעוד כמה וכמה יכול לפעול בהאמור. וק"ל.

והרי נמצאים אנו לפני חג הגאולה י"ב וי"ג תמוז הבע"ל, וידוע פרשת ימי סגולה אלו, ומסירת נפשו הק' של בעל הגאולה על הפצת המעינות ביחוד.
