Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7690 — Chinuch
Volume 20 · Letter 247 · To: élèves de la Yechiva Tom’heï Temimim Loubavitch
By the grace of Hashem,
8 Tammuz* 5721,
Brooklyn, New York,
To the students of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch, on the occasion of the conclusion celebration (note 1: Of the school year), in Montreal, may Hashem grant you long life,
I greet you and bless you,
On the occasion of your conclusion celebration, I address my blessing to all those who take part in the joy of the Torah* (note 2: Linked to the conclusion). Indeed, all understand, without doubt, that a conclusion in a Yeshivah* in general, in a Lubavitch Yeshivah* in particular, is also the accession to a higher level of the Torah* and the Mitzvos*. May Hashem grant that it truly be so, in the most complete manner, for the students who participate in this conclusion.
This year, the conclusion celebration will surely be marked by the festival of liberation of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz* (note 3: Of the Frierdiker Rebbe*). Now, among Jews, a commemoration must deliver a lesson. In this case, the days of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz* remind and teach each one of us that one must not be affected by any difficulty, not even the most significant, when it concerns enabling the study of the Torah*, a study that leads to the practice, to the fulfillment of the Mitzvos* in general. If this is so for the help that one provides to others, how much more is it the case for oneself. Another fundamental point: if one sincerely desires it, if one takes a firm resolution to this effect, one can indeed overcome all difficulties. Certainly, who can compare himself to the leaders of Israel? Nevertheless, each person, in accordance with his own situation, possesses the necessary strength, all the more so since these difficulties are insignificant compared to those that existed at that time and in that country (note 4: In Soviet Russia, when the Frierdiker Rebbe* was imprisoned).
May Hashem grant you the success of elevating yourselves in the study of the Torah*, with fear of Hashem, and in the practice of the Mitzvos*, in the best manner, with joy and enthusiasm. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,
M. Schneerson,
