By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 6 Tammuz*. I am surprised that you tell me nothing of what you are doing to find a good match, but I have good hope that you will do so in the proper manner, according to the ways of our Torah*, in a modest fashion and with the appropriate eagerness. Hashem will grant you success.

You also envisage wearing the Tefillin* of Rabbeinu Tam*. This is judicious, in particular for your sacred activity, for the fear of Hashem, and for the Chassidic* way of life that you transmit to those who receive your influence.

You also speak of your nostalgia. The essential point in this matter, as in everything concerning a Jew, according to the statement of our Sages* in the Mishnah*, lies in the principle: "The action is essential." I mean that there must result from it a concrete contribution to the Torah* and the Mitzvos* in general, to the Mitzvah* that is more specifically entrusted to you in particular — your sacred mission and your teaching, to which I was alluding. This is self-evident. You are surely preparing for the festival of liberation of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, which is approaching. May Hashem grant that you retain the motivation of these propitious days for the entire year. With my blessing on the occasion of the festival of the liberation and to give good tidings, with joy,

במענה למכתבו מו' תמוז,

ולפלא שאינו מזכיר כלל אודות התעסקות בעניני שידוך וע"פ התקוה חזקה שבאופן המתאים ע"פ דרכי תורתנו בדרכי צניעות יעשה בזה במרץ המתאים, והשי"ת יצליחו,

בו כותב אודות הנחת תפילין דר"ת - ונכון הדבר ובפרט בקדש הדרכת יראת שמים ואורחות חיים חסידותים במושפעיו שי'.

ולכתבו אודות געגועים וכו' העיקר בזה כבכל עניני איש הישראלי ע"פ מאמר רז"ל במשנתם, המעשה הוא העיקר כוונתי שהנ"ל יביא להוספה בתורה ומצות בכלל ובמצוה שהוא צ"ל זהיר טפי, מלאכתו בקדש השפעתו וכנ"ל, וק"ל.

בודאי מתכונן לחג הגאולה י"ב וי"ג תמוז הבע"ל ויהי רצון שיקח מהתעוררות דימי סגולה אלה על כל השנה.
