To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, the Rav Dovid (note 1: Rav D. Schlamiok, of Mexico. See, regarding him, letter no. 5404),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of this Wednesday, with what was enclosed, and, in conformity with your request, the present letter is addressed to you ahead of the queue. You are considering how to repair the Mikveh*. It is, of course, judicious that it have three pools (note 2: See, on this subject, letter no. 3118). Moreover, it is indispensable that it drain from the top and not from the bottom, in order to avoid a flow of running water, even if the plug at the bottom is made of a material that does not contract impurity (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 3568). Nevertheless, as an essential point, there exist very numerous and extremely detailed provisions concerning the manner of connecting these pools to the Mikveh*. It would therefore be good for you to contact the Rav, president of the rabbinical court of Helmets, the Rav Chananya Yom Tov Lippa Deutsch (note 4: See, regarding him, letter no. 7668), whose address you will find below. It seems to me that he was visiting Mexico some time ago. He devotes himself to the repair of Mikvaos*. At my request, he has already traveled to various locations, which he repaired and improved in various ways. You should understand what I mean.

If one of the Rabbanim* of Mexico risks being offended by this (note 5: Because someone else was preferred over him), you will ask him (note 6: The Rav of Helmets) what should be done, for he has already been confronted with such situations. And, I repeat once more what I have already said. He has a good knowledge of the laws of the Mikveh*, he has already arranged numerous Mikvaos*. It is therefore particularly desirable, before this repair, that he himself ascertain the concrete situation and advise you. Of course, you can telephone him to say that you are consulting him at my request. If it is necessary to pay travel expenses, I will contribute my share, without making a vow, given the importance that must be accorded to the purity of Jewish women. במענה למכתבו מיום הרביעי עם המצורף אליו, וכבקשתו נשלח המענה מבלי לחכות על התור.

בו כותב אודות אופני תיקון המקוה וכו'.

ומובן וגם פשוט שטוב שתהיינה ג' בורות, כן מוכרח שהרקת המקוה תהי' מלמעלה ולא מלמטה מפני חשש זוחלין אפילו באם הסתימה דלמטה בדבר שלא מקבל טומאה.

אלא ועיקר, כיון שבאופן חיבור הבורות עם המקוה שטובלים כמה פרטים ופרטי פרטים בזה, מהנכון ביותר שיבוא בדברים עם הראב"ד דהעלמיצא הרב חנני' יו"ט ליפא שי' דייטש, ע"פ הכתובת דלמטה [כמדומה שלפני זמן כבר ביקר במעקסיקא], שמתעסק הוא בתיקון מקואות, ומלפנים ביקר ע"פ בקשתי בכ"מ ותיקן ושיפר בכ"מ ובכו"כ פרטים, וד"ל.

באם יש בהענין מעין פגיעה של מי שהוא מהרבנים במכסיקה - יש להתייעץ עם הנ"ל עצמו איך להמנע מהפגיעה וגם בזה כבר הורגל, וכנ"ל אכפול - שלהיותו רגיל בהלכות מקואות וכבר תיקן מקואות בפועל, נכון במאד שקודם לתיקון - יראה הנ"ל המצב על אתר וייעצם, ומובן שיכול לתלפן להנ"ל שע"פ הצעתי מזמינו וכו'.

באם שאלת הוצאות הדרך באמצע, הנה לחשיבות ענין טהרת בנות ישראל, אשתתף, בלי נדר, בחצי הוצאות הדרך באם יודרש.
