To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Shlomo Zalman (note 1: Rav S. Z. Shargay. See, regarding him, letter no. 7328),

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of 2 Tammuz* and I hope that your recovery is approaching, that you are embarking on the path of disseminating traditional Judaism within the people of Israel, in conformity with the statement of the Mishnah*: "I was created to serve my Creator." The days of the liberation of the 12th and 13th of Tammuz*, that of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, have just passed. I myself was in that country at the time (note 2: In Soviet Russia). Of course, every detail of what took place then remains engraved and alive in my mind. This episode delivers, in this case, an edifying teaching and a living lesson about what a single person can accomplish, overcoming the broadest obstacles and hindrances, as soon as he takes a firm resolution to do so, with self-sacrifice, without retreating.

For the present, here is the subject of this letter. I would like to express to you my blessing of Mazal Tov*, on the occasion of the birth of your grandson. May Hashem grant that his parents educate him to the Torah*, to the marriage canopy, and to good deeds, in material and spiritual abundance. With my blessing,

For a certain reason, the sending of this letter was delayed and, in the meantime, I have just received your letter announcing another piece of good news — the marriage of your daughter, to whom Hashem will grant long days and good years. May Hashem grant that the couple build a Jewish home, based on the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, an eternal edifice, in true happiness, both material and spiritual.

מאשר הנני בזה מכתבו מיום ב' בתמוז, ותקותי שרפואתו מתקדמת ומתחיל להכנס במסלול הפצת היהדות המסורתית בתוככי כלל ישראל, מתאים לדבר משנה אני נבראתי לשמש את קוני.

בקשר עם ימי הגאולה יב-יג תמוז של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר דאזלינן מיני', הי' הייתי בעת ההיא במדינה ההיא, וכמובן אשר כל פרטי הפרשה ההיא חקוקים היטב בזכרוני כמו חי. והרי לימוד מאלף והוראה חי' בזה עד כמה אפילו איש אחד יכול לפעול ולהתגבר על מניעות ועכובים הכי גדולים באם יש ההחלטה התקיפה במסירות נפש מבלי חת.

ועל של עתה באתי להביע ברכת מזל טוב להולדת הנכד שי', ויהי רצון שהוריו שי' יגדלוהו לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים מתוך הרחבה בגו"ר.
