To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, the Rav Moshe Meir (note 1: Rav M. M. Yachar),

I greet you and bless you,

I received with pleasure your letter of 16 Tammuz*, to which was attached the donation of Mrs. Ruth Geshy for the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* Lubavitch of Lod, in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt. To someone such as yourself, it is surely unnecessary to explain at length the greatness and the merit of such an act, especially at this time of need, since, if one were not suffering from a lack of financial means, it would have been possible to expand the dissemination of the Torah* and the strengthening of Judaism based on sacred values. May Hashem bless you to expand your effort broadly. I enclose a letter of acknowledgment and blessing addressed to this generous woman, to whom Hashem will grant long life. Of course, if you deem it necessary, you will add an explanation to what is said therein. You will surely find the appropriate words for this.

P.S.: To link this positive event to what is current during these three weeks (note 2: Commemorating the mourning of the Temple), one will recall the statement of our Sages*, in tractate Shabbos* 119b, according to which: "Jerusalem was destroyed only because the study of children was suppressed." Indeed, the obligation to remember what occurred during this period necessarily has as its purpose the repair of these events, by removing the causes that were at the origin of the destruction (note 3: Of the Temple), in this case the strengthening of education based on sacred values, in particular in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, which "sits with its head bowed" (note 4: In the posture of the mourner, according to the Book of Eichah*), "like a barren woman who does not give birth." One must therefore multiply the study of children. Thus, "the kids will become goats" — numerous students of Yeshivos* — which will be a double consolation, until the fulfillment of the promise: "The small one will become a thousand and the young one, a great nation."

בנועם קבלתי מכתב כת"ר מיום ט"ז בתמוז בצירוף התרומה מהאשה רות געשי שתחי' לישיבת תומכי תמימים ליובאוויטש אשר בלוד, באה"ק ת"ו.

למותר להאריך לדכוותי' בגודל זכות המעשה, ובפרט בעת הצורך הזאת אשר לולא חסרון אמצעי כסף כמה אפשר הי' להרחיב פעולות הפצת התורה וחיזוק היהדות על טהרת הקדש. ויישר כוחו וחילו לעשות כהנה וכהנה.

מוסג"פ מכתב אישור וברכה להאשה הנדיבה הנ"ל שתחי', ובודאי אם ימצא כת"ר לנכון להוסיף ביאור על הכתוב בטח ימצא גם האותיות המתאימות לזה...

ולקשר עובדא טבא הנ"ל עם ענינא דיומא דבין המצרים, הנה אמרו רז"ל לא חרבה ירושלים אלא בשביל שבטלו בה תנוקות של בית רבן (שבת קיט, ב). והרי החיוב דזכרון המאורעות והימים האלו בודאי כוונתו הוא התיקון על ידי שלילת הסבות שהביאו להחורבן - חיזוק החנוך על טהרת הקדש, ובפרט בארצנו הקדושה ת"ו, היושבת וראשה חפוי כאשה עקרה שלא ילדה כו', להרבות ולהוסיף שם תשב"ר וגדיים נעשים תיישים תלמידי ישיבות כהנה וכהנה נחמה בכפליים, עדי יקויים היעוד הקטון יהי' לאלף והצעיר לגוי גדול.
