To the young man Yitzchak Meir (note 1: Rav I. M. Erentreu, of Jerusalem),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of this Friday and I answer your question (note 2: On which date of the month of Elul* is it good to set a wedding?). The month of Elul*, in its entirety, is a good and fruitful time in which to set a wedding. It is, indeed, the month of mercy and goodwill, like "the first days" (note 3: Before the sin of the golden calf was committed). It is, moreover, placed under the sign of the maiden, as the later Decisors recall.
