Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7739 — Faith & Bitachon

(1st Elul* 5721)

I am responding to your letter of 27 Menachem Av*, in which you describe to me the proposal that has been made to you by the administration of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* — a position as a counselor. You tell me that you have begun to assume these functions and that you are experiencing success in this matter. Although you do not speak of it, you are surely studying, on a personal level, the revealed part of the Torah* and Chassidus*. For, it is in this way that you will be able to continue to assume your role as a counselor of the children of Israel.

The saying (note 1: See, on this subject, letter no. 7569) of our master, the Baal Shem Tov*, is well known, according to which the love of Hashem for Israel is even more intense than that of parents for their only son, born when they were already of advanced age. You will educate them according to sacred values, and you know, on this subject, the explanation of the Alter Rebbe* according to which "his brain and his heart (note 2: Those of the person who devotes his time to others) are a thousand times more refined," as the beginning of the Torah Or* indicates.

At a propitious moment, all those whom you cite will be mentioned near the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us. And, this merit will come to your aid, in order to obtain the satisfaction of the wish of your heart (note 3: Perhaps that of having a child).

במענה למכתבו מכ"ז מנ"א, בו כותב אודות הצעת הנהלת ישיבת תומכי תמימים להיות מדריך והתחיל בזה והצליח.

ובודאי אף שאינו מזכיר עד"ז, לומד הוא גם לעצמו הן נגלה והן חסידות, ובאופן זה ימשיך להדריך בני ישראל.

וכידוע פתגם מורנו הבעש"ט, אשר אהבת השי"ת לישראל היא עוד יותר מאהבת הורים לבן יחידם שנולד להם לעת זקנותם,

ולחנכם על טהרת הקדש, וידועה תורת רבנו הזקן שנעשים מוחו ולבו זכים אלף פעמים ככה (עיין תורה אור בתחלתו).

בעת רצון יזכירו את כל אלה שכותב אודותם על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, וזכות הנ"ל תעמוד לו למילוי משאלות לבו לטובה.
