I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 25 Menachem Av* and to the three letters that preceded it. I am very surprised that you were affected by the letter (note 1: That someone addressed to the recipient of the present letter, stating a dissatisfaction on the part of the Rebbe*) that you received and from which you wish to deduce a change of attitude on my part toward you. It is quite evident that I am in no way responsible for what is written by someone else. Concretely, no change has occurred in my attitude toward you, which remains currently what it was previously. I hope that you are now devoting yourself to the dissemination of Chassidus*, in your surroundings, in your city, and in every place where your influence extends, that you will continue to do so in the future, with joy and enthusiasm, in an ever-increasing manner.

You speak of the actions that are being conducted by another person who is in your city. Now, there is sufficiently and amply enough to do for two people to disseminate the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) and Judaism there. In fact, many other people would also find their place there, if they were present. Now, we have entered the month of Elul* and I therefore have good hope that you will strengthen your trust in Hashem, Who grants His Providence to each person. Indeed, we begin to say, twice a day (note 3: In the prayer of Shacharis* and in that of Minchah*, from Rosh Chodesh* Elul* until Hoshanah Rabbah*): "Of David, Hashem is my light and my salvation."

שלום וברכה!

במענה למכתבו מכ"ה מנ"א, ושלשת המכתבים שקדמו לו.

ולפלא גדול מה שמתרגש ממכתב שקבל, ושרוצה לפרשו כאילו חל שינוי ביחס שלי אליו.

והנה פשוט - שאין אני אחראי למה שאחר כותב. כן - לא חל שינוי ביחס שלי אליו. וכמו מלפנים כן גם עתה, תקותי שמתעסק בהווה (ובעתיד) בהפצת עניני חסידות בסביבתו ובעירו ובכל מקום שידו מגעת, ויעשה זה מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב, ובאופן דמוסיף והולך.

ולכתבו על דבר פעולות של איש אחר בעיר וכו' - די מספיק עבודה בהפצת המעינות והיהדות בשביל שניהם; ויספיק גם לעוד כמה וכמה, באם היו נמצאים...

תקותי שכיון שנכנסנו לחדש אלול, יתחזק גם הוא בבטחונו בהשם יתברך המשגיח על כל אחד בהשגחה פרטית, שהרי מתחילים לאמר פעמים בכל יום, לדוד ה' אורי וישעי וגו'.
