Igrot Kodesh · Letter 7747 — Faith & Bitachon
Volume 20 · Letter 304
By the grace of Hashem,
10 Elul* 5721,
Brooklyn,
I greet you and bless you,
You know the following Chassidic* jest: "Renunciation must not come to mind" (note 1: This affirmation is, in fact, another reading of a Talmudic* principle, "renunciation that is not conscious," according to which a man could be dispossessed of an object belonging to him that he has lost, although he does not yet know it, as soon as it is known that he will renounce it when he learns of the loss. Paraphrasing this affirmation, Chassidus* emphasizes that discouragement must not even come to mind). Another point, which is essential: our masters and leaders specify the lesson that is delivered, for all the Mitzvos*, by Pesach Sheini* (note 2: Which was offered by those who had not had the possibility of sacrificing the first), as the Hayom Yom* states, at the date of 14 Iyar*: "Nothing is ever definitively lost." I therefore address myself to you, once more, for the same purpose.
This month is propitious since the King, King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He, is in the field and welcomes each person there with benevolence, as the Likkutei Torah* of the Alter Rebbe* explains, at the beginning of the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "I am to my Beloved," at page 32b. May Hashem grant that this be effective in this domain as well. The merit of what is public depends on you, on your remarks and your directives. With my blessing to give good tidings and to be inscribed and sealed for a good year,
