and discerning, former student of the Yeshivah*, the Rav S. (note 1: Rav Shalom Posner, who was then in Chicago. See, regarding him, letters no. 3454, 7769, 7850, 7853, 7939, 7973, 7994, and 8168),

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your two letters of 21 and 22 Tammuz*, with the Smechov questionnaire, the twelve Shekels, and the synagogue list. I thank you for all of this. In the meantime, you must have received another questionnaire, as you requested, and you are doing what is in your power to disseminate them. From time to time, you will let me know how things stand. Is the synagogue list intended for the mailing of the circular, emanating from the Machaneh Israel*, regarding the Tehillim* (note 2: To encourage people to recite them. See, on this subject, the Igros Kodesh* of the previous Rebbe*, volume 6, letter no. 1785)?

After consulting with our friend the Ramal (note 3: Rav Moshe Leib Rothstein, director of the Chabad* Association of Chicago), you will kindly let me know whether it is possible to have the Chicago newspaper publish an article, which we would send them, about the activities of the Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch* or of the Machaneh Israel* (note 4: See, on this subject, the two following letters). Of course, this publication must be done free of charge, for if it is paid, one can also arrange for it from here. As I promised, I am enclosing the text, which I obtained, of what was said on the 13th of Tammuz* (note 5: By the Rebbe Rayatz*). This text has not yet been proofread and I possess only this copy. You will therefore kindly reproduce it at the earliest, then return it to me. You will convey our greetings to our friend, the Rav and Chassid*, the Ramal. I am surprised that he himself has not yet responded to the letter that I had sent him some time ago. Wishing you all the best and with my blessing for an immediate redemption,

רשימת הביהכ"נ - היא בשביל שילוח מכ' "מחנה ישראל" ע"ד תהלים?

בבקשה להודיע, אחרי ישוב הדעת עם ידידינו וכו' הרה"ח הרמ"ל שי', אם יוכלו להדפיס בעתון דציקאגא מאמר ע"ד עבודת המל"ח או מחנ"י, אשר נשלח להם. כמובן חנם, כי ע"י תשלומין8מין - אפשר לעשות כזה גם מכאן.
