the Yeshivah*, Rav Menachem Zeev Gringlass (note 1: See, regarding him, letter no. 7774)

and Rav Yosef Weinberg (note 2: See, regarding him, letter no. 5687), Montreal,

I greet you and bless you,

I saw, at the home of Rav M. P. (note 3: Rav Moshe Pinchas Katz. See, regarding him, letter no. 7765), several letters that you wrote to him, in which you mention a journal and notes (note 4: See letter no. 82 and the following letter) concerning what happened to my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, from the end of the year 5699 (note 5: 1939) until his arrival here. I would be very grateful if you would kindly send me a copy. Perhaps a merit for the many will result from this if, when the time comes, certain of these points can appear in our publications. If these notes are not exhaustive, it would be particularly important to complete them. Indeed, the Rebbe* Shlita* has already emphasized many times the great importance of recording testimonies of the past (note 6: See the Igros Kodesh* of the previous Rebbe*, volume 10, letter no. 3365), when everything was normal, especially concerning decisive events and periods. In the hope that my request will be fulfilled, as well as with my blessing for immediate Teshuvah* and immediate redemption,

ראיתי אצל ידידנו הררמ"פ שי' מכתבים אחדים מהם, שבהם מזכירים ע"ד יומן ורשימות מכל העבר על כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א מסוף שנת צ"ט עד נסיעתו לכאן.

אודה להם מאד אם יוכלו לשלוח לי העתקה מהנ"ל, ואפשר שיהי' בזה גם זכות הרבים, אם יש בהנ"ל ענינים שאוכל להכניס במשך הזמן בדברים הנדפסים.

אם אין הרשימות על מילואם, דבר גדול למאד הוא להשלימם, וכמה פעמים כבר עורר כ"ק אד"ש על תועלת הכי רבה שברשימות זכרונות ימי קדם גם משנים כתיקונם, ובפרט ממאורעות וימי הרת עולם.
