To the attention of the distinguished Rav, who fears Hashem,

Rav Avraham Goldberg (note 1: Military chaplain in the United States, A.A.A.F.T.T.C., Seymour Johnson Field, N.C. See, regarding him, letters no. 187 and 255),

I greet you and bless you,

I received your letter in its time and, pending the outcome of the negotiation to find a good Sefer Torah* intended for the Jewish soldiers in your city (note 2: Of a military camp, during the Second World War), my response was delayed. Currently, I can inform you that we are indeed able to send you a good Sefer Torah*. Out of honor for the Torah*, we will send it to you through the intermediary of one of our friends, the distinguished Rabbanim*, who will bring it to you. You will therefore kindly let me know, by return, the date and the moment that are convenient for bringing you this Sefer Torah*, as well as the preparations that you will make to receive it. With the expression of my respect and my blessing,

מכתבו נתקבל במועדו, ועד שנגמר המשא-ומתן בדבר המצאת ספר-תורה כשרה בעד אנשי הצבא היהודים שבמחנו, נתעכב המענה.

וכעת הנני יכול לבשרו כי אפשר לנו לשלוח להם ספר תורה כשרה, ומשום כבוד התורה הננו מוכנים לשלחה על-ידי אחד מחברינו הרבנים הנכבדים שיביאה אליהם.

ואשר ע"כ יואיל נא להודיע לי בחוזר מתי היום והזמן המתאים להביא אליהם את ספר התורה ואיזה הכנות יעשו לקבלה.
