Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav E. Karasik (note 1: Rav Eliezer Karasik, of Tel Aviv. See, regarding him, letters no. 6392, 7884, 7907, and 7912),

I greet you and bless you,

We observe, with surprise, that you have in no way acknowledged receipt of the publications that were sent to you at various times and that you have still not told us in what manner their payment will be settled subsequently. You will kindly explain the reason to me. Generally speaking, the shortfall in revenue from books already published prevents us from publishing the booklets and books that are ready to see the light of day. It would therefore be good to establish, in Tel Aviv, a specific committee (note 2: See, on this subject, the preceding letter) that will commit to selling and disseminating the publications sent from here — the periodical HaKriah VeHaKedushah*, the booklets, the talks, the Conversations with the Youth. If you see fit to distribute some copies free of charge, we agree, for our part, to reduce the established price by twenty percent (note 2: See, on this subject, the preceding letter), and we assume the shipping costs. If this is not sufficient, a source of funding must be found locally.

To the extent possible, we ask you to rectify all of this also for the books that you have already received and, without a doubt, this is the attitude you will adopt in the future. You will entrust the revenue from this activity to the Yeshivah* Toras Emes*. You will also specify to me how many copies of each publication should henceforth be sent to you. We are also sending you specimens of study manuals for the Holy Language intended for schools. It would be good to make them known to the Orthodox establishments of Tel Aviv and its region, which will surely perceive their great importance. The first volume costs sixty cents and the fifth, which is used after six or seven years of study, one dollar. For a large order, we are prepared to grant a substantial reduction. The other volumes are practically ready for publication.

Furthermore, I would be grateful if you could provide me with details about the edition of the Tanya* (note 3: Published in Tel Aviv in 5703 (1943). See, on this subject, letter no. 7782). Is it an offset or was the text recomposed? I ask you to send us here at least one or two copies of everything that you publish, whether by reproduction or by printing. In this matter, it would be preferable, in the future, that there be prior consultation between us. Thus, my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, is now transmitting to us the Kuntres U'Maayan (note 4: Of the Rebbe Rashab*. See the preceding letter), which will be published with a foreword and commentaries. Now, I have learned that you yourself have published it in stencils! תמהים אנו שכת"ר לא אישר כלל את קבלת עניני הדפוס אשר שלחנו לו זה כמה פעמים, וגם לא הודיענו מאומה ע"ד סילוק מחירם, במשך כל הזמן, ומטובו להודיענו פתרון הדברים.

בכלל הנה מניעת ההכנסה מהספרים שכבר נדפסו מעכב בידינו הוצאת קונטרסים וספרים המוכנים לדפוס.

ראוי הי' שיהי' בתל אביב ועד מיוחד, אשר יקח ע"ע מכירת והפצת הנדפסים הנשלחים מהאן (הקוה"ק, קונטרסים, שיחות, שמועסן וכו'). אם מוצאים הם לנכון לחלק מספר מסויים מהם חנם, הנה אנחנו צדנו מנכים ע"ז עשרים אחוז ממחיר הקבוע (גם הוצאות המשלוח על חשבוננו). ואם זה איננו מספיק, צריך למצוא על אתר במחנם מקור ע"ז.

ובבקשה כמה שביכלתו לתקן גם אספרים שקבל מכבר, ובלי ספק שיעשה כן אלהבא. ומחירם למסור לישיבת "תורת אמת".

ובבקשה להודיע כמה שלשלוח מכאן ולהבא מכל מין ומין.

שולחים אנו לו דוגמאות מספרי לימוד ללשה"ק בבתי הספר, וכדאי להודיע ע"ד זה לבתי הספר החרדים בתל אביב וסביבותי', אשר בטח מרגישים נחיצות גדולה בספרים כאלה. מחיר החלק הראשון 60 סענט ומחיר החלק החמישי (למי שלמדו כבר 6כ -7 שנים) דאללאר אחד, וכשיזמינו הרבה מהם מוכנים אנו לתת להם הנחות די טובות. גם שאר החלקים כמעט מוכנים כבר לדפוס.

ואלהבא הי' מהנכון אשר מקודם יתדברו עמנו עד"ז. ולדוגמא: כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א מוסר עתה על ידינו קונטרס "ומעין" להדפיס בתוספות מבוא ביאורים וכו', והנה שמעתי אשר במחנם הוציאוהו בקופיר!
