I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of the 20th of last month:

A) You ask me in what language the studies should be conducted. From the way you describe the situation, our advice is to opt for English in all the courses. But, little by little, you will ensure that the children understand Yiddish. From that point on, it will become their language of study. Based on your assessment, you may accustom the students to Yiddish by making it the language of review, which will increase its appeal, including for students who understood the lesson well the first time, or by establishing a specific time for the study of Yiddish. Perhaps it is possible to combine these two approaches.

B) The study program will be published this week, if Hashem wills it, and it also addresses the organization of studies.

C) You are looking for a manual teaching the rules of grammar according to the principles of holiness and you wish that the students use it effectively. However, for the time being, such a work does not exist. If you are looking for one for yourself, you will let us know, so that we can find a book that will be useful to you, at least for lack of a better option.

D) We have requested that all the publications you ordered be sent to you, as well as the guides for the Mesibos Shabbos*. With my blessing of immediate Teshuvah*, immediate redemption.

במענה על מכתבו מכ' לחודש העבר

א) בשאלת שפת ההוראה, הנה כפי שהוא מצ[יי]ר את מצב הדברים, עצתנו שילמדו הילדים באופן זמני הכל באנגלית, ויחד עם זה להשתדל שבמשך הזמן יתלמדו גם אידיש ואז יוכלו לעבור גם לשפת ההוראה באידיש.

ולפי ראות עיניו יוכל להרגיל את התלמידים באידיש או באופן שהחזרה על הלימודים יהי' באידיש (וגם זה יענין יותר את החזרה גם לאלה התלמידים אשר זוכרים כבר היטב את מה שלמדו בפעם הראשונה) או שיקציב איזה זמן מיוחד ללמוד של השפה אידיש, (אפשר [ג]ם שני האופנים כאחד).

ב) בשבוע הזה יופיע אי"ה מהדפוס תכניתה לימודים, ובה גם סדר למוד הדברים.

ג) ספר ללמוד דקדוק על טהרת הקודש, אם כוונתו שישתמשו התלמידים, הנה ספר כזה כמעט שאין כאן כעת במציאות, ואם רוצה זה לעצמו, יודיענו ונוכל לחפש אחר ספר שיוכל ללמוד מתוכו עכ"פ בשעת הדחק.

ד) צוינו לשלח אליו את כל מה שביקש מעניני הדפוס וגם הסימנים מהמסבות שבת.
