To the attention of the great Rav, of good reputation,

Rav S. Scheinfeld, of London,

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of the 8th of the month of January. I have taken note of your fruitful work, intended to strengthen religion among the Jewish soldiers. Rav Heschel recently came here from London. He praised you at length and described to me your diligent role in the important work that is being conducted there. The Machaneh Israel* was founded by my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita* of Lubavitch, and this institution devotes itself to strengthening the Torah* and Judaism. Of course, we are ready to help you, to the extent possible.

Concretely, I propose that you contact Rav Binyaminsohn (note 1: Rav Yerachmiel Binyaminsohn, of London. See, regarding him, letter no. 7803), in London, who possesses several copies of what we have published. Based on these, you will be able to determine the weight and size of the books and booklets that you will need, in order to formulate a request (note 2: For importation of these publications into England). For our part, we are ready to send you our books and booklets, granting a special reduction of one third of the price. If you succeed in obtaining the authorizations locally, so much the better, but if the shipment must be made at our expense, we are prepared to cover half of these transport costs. In our view, it is sufficient, for the first time, to send twenty or twenty-five copies, as an example. If needed, we will make another shipment, with the help of Hashem.

Regarding the transformer for the machine, we inquired at the central office in New York and we were told that only a few were currently for sale. Indeed, they have not been manufactured for some time already, due to the war. It is possible to obtain two or three at a unit price of two dollars and seventy-five cents. With my blessing for success in your work, as well as for a kosher and joyous festival (note 3: Of Pesach*), with immediate Teshuvah* and immediate redemption,

מכתבו מיום ה-8 לחדש יאנואר הגיעני, ונהניתי לשמוע מעבודתם הפורי' לחיזוק הדת בין אנשי החיל היהודים. גם הרב העשיל שזה לא כבר בא לכאן מלונדון הרבה לדבר בשבחו של כת"ר בתור הרוח החי' בעבודה נעלה זו.

"מחנה ישראל" שנוסדה ע"י כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א מליובאוויטש מוקדשה לחיזוק התורה והיהדות וכמובן נכונים אנו להיות לעזר לכת"ר בכל האפשר.

והנה הלכה למעשה הייתי מציע לכת"ר לבוא בקשר עם הרב בנימינסאן שבלונדון שאצלו נמצאים עקז' אחדים מכל אשר הופיע אצלנו מעניני דפוס, ועל פיהם יוכל לשער פרטי הכובד והגודל של הספרים והחבורת הנחוצים להגשת הבקשה לרשיון.

מצדנו מוכנים אנו לשלוח להם מהספרים והחוברות שלנו בעד הנחה מיוחדת של שליש המחיר. ואם יוכלו להשיג הרשיון על אתר, מה טוב, אבל באם נצטרך לשלוח להם על חשבוננו, מוכנים אנו ג"כ לוותר על מחצית דמי המשלוח. לפי דעתנו, מספיק הי' בפעם הראשונה לשלוח מח-20 עד 25 עקז' לדוגמא, ואם יהי' צורך נשלח עוד אי"ה.

בנוגע ה"טראנספארמער" של מכונת-שיק, חקרנו אצל המשרד המרכזי בניו-יארק והודיעו לנו כי רק אחדים נמצאים למכירה, באשר זה כמה זמן שאין מכינים כאלה לרגלי המלחמה; רק שנים שלשה אפשר להשיג 2$.75 כל אחד.
