To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav A. HaLevi Popack (note 1: Rav Aharon Popack. See, regarding him, letter no. 3068),

I greet you and bless you,

We have been asked to find a person who would be suitable to fill a position as rabbi in a synagogue in Chicago, knowing that it is necessary to speak English fluently. The one currently in the position earns approximately ten thousand Shekels (note 2: Dollars) per year, according to what Mr. Yaakov Katz (note 3: See, regarding him, letter no. 7855) writes to me, but this man is not married and they are therefore not satisfied with him.

I asked my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, whether you would be suitable for this position and he signified his agreement. He asked me to write to you on this subject. If you accept this proposal, you can go immediately to the location in order to undergo an examination. You will let me know and I myself will write directly there. In any event, you will kindly let me know your decision as quickly as possible. I am enclosing a letter from my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, which is addressed to all. Awaiting your letter, I greet you.

שאלונו לאיש מתאים למשרת רבנות באחת הבהכנ"ס בטשיקאגא (צ"ל נואם טוב באנגלית). הרב דעתה שם יש לו לערך כעשר אלף שקל בשנה, כפי שכותב לי מר יעקב שי' כ"ץ, אבל הוא בחור ואין שבעים רצון ממנו.

שאלתי את כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, שליט"א אם הוא מתאים לזה, והסכים, וא"ל שאכתוב עד"ז אליו, אם מסכים ע"ז בכלל יכול לנסוע תיכף לשם להבחן. ויודיעני תיכף מזה ואכתוב מצדי לשם. בכל אופן מטובו להודיעני החלטתו בזה בהקדם.
