By the grace of Hashem,

To the distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Sh. M. Kalmenson (note 2: Rav Shalom Mendel Kalmenson, of Paris, who at that time was in Prague. See, regarding him, letters no. 5090, 7806, 7808, 7810, 7817, and 7818),

I greet you and bless you,

I have just learned that it might be possible to write to my dear mother (note 3: She, at the time, had just left Russia and was in Paris, awaiting her departure for the United States), may she have a long life, at this address (note 4: That of Rav Kalmenson who, after leaving Russia, had remained in Prague in order to help the refugees of that country, en route to the free countries). I am therefore attempting to do so in this manner. You will kindly convey to her the enclosed letter (note 5: In letter no. 260, of Tuesday of Parshas Vayechi* 5707, the Rebbe* writes: "I thank you for having delivered my letter to my mother") and tell me how things stand. I presume that all the Chassidim* are coming to her aid, to the fullest extent possible, on my account (note 6: The Rebbe* commits to reimbursing the expenses that will result from this). Of course, I will reimburse them and I will furthermore express to them my sincere gratitude.

If the present letter reaches you, you will surely indicate to me in what manner it will be possible to write to you in the future and whether it will be possible to send you, in this way, for example, the letters of my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*. I am keeping the present letter short because I must hurry, but I await your detailed response. I greet you, as well as all the Chassidim*, and I wish you all the best, material and spiritual.

נודעתי זה לא כבר, אשר אולי אפשר לכתוב לאמי מורתי שליט"א ע"י כתובת זו, והנני מנסה לעשות ככה ומטובו למסור לה מכתבי המוסג"פ, ולהודיעני עד"ז. לא אפונה אשר כל אנ"ש עוזרים לה ככל האפשרי על חשבוני, וכמובן עלי לסלק בצירוף ת"ח נפשיית וכו'.

אם יגיעם מכ' זה, בטח יודיעוני באיזה אופן יש לכתוב אליהם מכאן ולהבא, אם לשלוח מכתבי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א כך וכיו"ב.
