the printing needs in Europe, affiliated with the

Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch* (note 1: See, on this subject, letters no. 266 and 279),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter:

A) I reported to my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, the content of your correspondence, especially since you are about to assume the holy function that he entrusted to you. Nevertheless, I am very surprised to observe that this letter was not signed by all of the leaders.

B) Of course, the great principle in this matter is eagerness in concrete action and we await good news from it.

C) At the present time, it does not seem possible to maintain the subsidy that is granted to you from here beyond what I have already promised to Rav B. G. (note 2: Rav Binyamin Gorodetski, director of the refugee aid office, of Paris) in the past. One should therefore endeavor to collect the entire budget locally, with tuition fees, personal donations, special appeals, particularly at the synagogue, in Elul* and Tishrei*, after the appropriate preparation.

D) Regarding your proposal for the Joint (note 3: American Jewish committee for aid to refugees), I will ask the opinion of the Rebbe* Shlita*.

E) The best means of gathering the resources necessary to publish the works and print them consists of finding several donors who will offer a good sum intended for the publication of a certain book, for the elevation of the soul of someone or for the merit of the living, as my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, did for the books of the Toras Shmuel* series in your possession, in accordance with the responsa of the Rashba*, according to which: "the Torah* makes known who has accomplished a Mitzvah*," as cited by the Magen Avraham*, at the end of chapter 194. א) ספרתי לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א ע"ד תוכן מכתבם, וברפט כי הנכם ניגשתם למילוי תקפידכם הקדוש המוטל עליכם ע"י כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש, ופליא[ה] גדולה אשר לא כל הממונים באו על החתום.

ב) כמובן עיקר גדול בזה היא הזריזין של פועל ממש, ולבשורות טובות אנו מחכים.

ג) באשר ברגע זו אינה נישקפ[ת] האפשרות להמשיך את תמיכתנו מכאן, נוסף על מה שכבר הבטחתי להרב"ג על העבר, יש להתאמץ לאסף את כל התקציב על אתר: משכר לימוד, נדבות פרטיות, מגביות מיוחדות (וגם בביהכ"נ) באלול-תשרי ע"י הכנה הראוי'.

ד) בנוגע להצ[ע]תם אודות הדזשוינט כשאברר דעת כ"ק אד"ש.

ה) האופן הכי מתאים לקבץ הוצאת עניני דפוס והדפסה - הוא להשיג מנדיבים יחידים אשר נותנים סכום הגון עבור הדפסת ספר מיוחד לזכר נשמת וכו', או גם לזכות את החיים, וכמ שעשה כ"ק מו"ח אד"ש בספרי תורת שמואל הנמצאם תחת ידכם (וכמו"ש בשו"ת הרשב"א כי התורה מפרסמת עושי מצוה כו' הובא במג"א סי' קצד בסופו).
