To the attention of the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Sh. Ch. (note 2: Rav Shlomo Chaim Kasselman, then in Paris, subsequently spiritual director of the Yeshivah* Lubavitch of Lod. See, regarding him, letters no. 6894, 7820, 7822, 7827, 7829, 7831, 7836, 7839, 7905, 8088, 8107, 8188, and 8208),

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter and, in accordance with your request, a package of books that we have available was sent to the Yeshivah*. You will kindly confirm to me that you received it. You do not say it clearly, but, according to what you write between the lines, it seems that you are the director of the Yeshivah* in your city (note 3: In the Parisian region). We have therefore acted on the basis of your letter.

We will conclude with a point that is of current relevance, in these days (note 4: The end of this letter reprises the conclusion of letter no. 299, which is the point of current relevance announced by the Rebbe*: "This morning, when the Shochet* went to my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, to propose to him to cover the blood, the latter confided to him: 'My father said (apparently when he himself was fulfilling the Mitzvah* of covering the blood, on the eve of Yom Kippur*): This precept is representative of the service of Hashem on the eve of Yom Kippur*. If it is necessary to come into contact with severity, one must, at least, cover it with kindness, in this case with earth, which alludes to submission. In this way, one can feel deeply the atonement for the sin that this day brings.' " This paragraph appears in the letters addressed to several people on this day).
