To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Z. (note 1: Rav Shneur Zalman Taubel. See, regarding him, letter no. 1348),

I greet you and bless you,

You have surely received, in their time, my letters of 23 Adar (note 2: Rishon) and 11 Adar Sheini*, with the booklet of Purim*. You will find enclosed that of the 2nd of Nissan* (note 3: Date of the birthday of the Rebbe Rashab*, father of the Rebbe Rayatz*). You will kindly confirm having received them and you will inform me in what manner you made them available to the greatest number. It is known, indeed, what the Zohar*, volume 1, at page 106a, says regarding the superiority of Avraham over Noach, because he prayed for his generation (note 4: Unlike Noach, who shut himself in the ark without interceding for his generation). Let one therefore meditate on this! Our father Avraham, may he rest in peace, a soul of Atzilus*, devoted his time to praying for the inhabitants of Sodom and Amorah, who, even more so, opposed his kindness and his hospitality! How much more must this be the case for souls on the level of the heel, in our generation, descendants of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov. It is surely unnecessary to say more.
