To the attention of the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, former

student of the Yeshivah*, Rav Y. Chitrik (note 1: Rav Yehudah Chitrik. See, regarding him, letter no. 1419),

I greet you and bless you,

I duly received your letter of 23 Iyar* (note 2: Perhaps there is a confusion on the date here, since this letter predates it). You do not explain why your influence on the students would be diminished if you took part in the education of the young people entrusted to the Agudah*. In my humble opinion, the opposite will prove true.

In my view, it is clear that you must not neglect the teaching that you deliver to those who belong to circles distant from the Torah* and the Mitzvos*. There are no words to explain the importance of separating the wheat from the chaff. However, the transformation of an average education into a good one, or of a good one into a better one, is equally fundamental, especially since eventually, you will also teach them the Tanya*, talks, and Chassidic* discourses. It is unnecessary to say more. I am enclosing the booklet of Lag BaOmer*. Without a doubt, you will make it available to the greatest number. Wishing you all the best,

מכ' מכ"ג אייר נתקבל. ואינו מבאר מפני מה תגרע השפעתו על תלמידיו עתה, אם יקח חלק גם בחינוך הצעירים שתח"י האגודה ולפענ"ד, הרי אדרבה.

ולדידי - פשיטא שא"צ להזניח לימודו עם אלו הבאים מחוגים רחוקים [...] התוהמ"צ. וגודל הוצאת יקר מזולל אין די באר. אבל, יחד עם זה, הרי הטבת חינוך בינוני לחינוך טוב, ומטוב לטוב יותר - וסו"ס יקבע ביניהם גם לימוד תניא שיחות והמאמרים - ג"ז הוא דבר גדול ביותר. והאריכות אך למותר.
