To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter, concerning the printing of a booklet for the elevation of the soul of Rav G. Raud, may his memory be a blessing. I did not respond until now because, until now, I had no booklet available to print. At the present time, the summaries and notes of the Tzemach Tzedek* on the Tanya* are in press, with, as addenda, the notes of the Rebbe* (note 2: The Rebbe Rashab*) on several chapters of the Tanya*, which comprise five pages, and a letter of my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, on the Tanya*. This book will have the format of the small Tanya* and it will contain approximately one hundred seventy pages. I do not know exactly how much the printing will cost, but it is far beyond what was left for this purpose in the estate.

The alternative is therefore the following. Either one waits for the publication of this booklet, which, in my humble opinion, will be ready at the latest for Tishrei* or Cheshvan*, and all the copies will then be published in his name, or one publishes only some copies, in accordance with the sum that he left for this purpose, that is, three hundred or four hundred, according to my estimate, and the rest will be published in the name of another donor. You will kindly let me know your decision in this matter during the coming week, that is, before the end of the printing of these summaries.

In the dedication that you propose, you also note the address of the donors. It is certain that by this mention, one will multiply, as is the custom in America, the number of people who will ask him for help. I simply wanted to point this out to you. Furthermore, the Chassid*, Rav M. HaCohen Dubinski (note 3: Rav Moshe Dubinski. See, regarding him, letters no. 513 and 7835) has already submitted his case to the consul.

To conclude with a Torah* idea, I had the occasion, on account of a letter that was addressed to me, to consult the chapter of Iggeres HaKodesh* that begins with: "David calls them songs." Now, it is stated there, at page 160b, that: "the inner dimension of the Torah* is totally unified with the Light of Hashem, in relation to which all the worlds are as nothing. Furthermore, forgetfulness has no meaning there, since everything is as nothing." Such is the content of this passage, whereas the opposite would seem more logical. Indeed, one should have said "as nothing" regarding the Light of Hashem and "nothing" regarding the Torah*, and one can therefore reflect on this matter (note 4: The Rebbe also poses this question in his "notes and corrections on the Tanya*"). It is now possible to publish the talk of this festival of Pesach* (note 5: In practice, this was not published at the time). This will appear, nevertheless, in small format, like that of Purim* 5701 (note 6: 1941) or of 10 Kislev* 5707 (note 7: 1946). It will contain approximately 25 to 30 pages. I wonder whether the family of Rav G. (note 8: Rav G. Raud. See the beginning of this letter) would be satisfied with such a booklet.

במענה על מכתבו מבענין הדפסת קונטרס לז"נ הר"ג ראוד ז"ל,

לא עניתי עד כה, כי לע"ע לא ניתן על ידי איזה קונטרס להדפיס.

והנה נמצאים עתה בדפוס הקיצורים וההערות של הצ"צ לתניא ובתור הוספה להם הערות כ"ק אדנ"ע על איזה פרקים מהתניא (ה' עמודים), מכ' כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א ע"ד התניא וכו'. יהי' ספר בפורמאט של תניא הקטן, בן ק"ע עמודים לערך. איני יודע ברור הוצאות ההדפסה, אבל הוא שלא בערך להסכום שנמצא מעזבון הנ"ל על זה.

ובמילא שתי ברירות ישנם, או לחכות עד שיהי' קונטרס (לפי ענ"ד לא יאוחר מחודש תשרי-חשון) ויהיו כל העקז' שידפיסו ע"ש הנ"ל, או להדפיס מן ספר הקיצורים הנ"ל מספר עקז' ע"ש הנ"ל מתאים לסכום שעזב למטרה זו (ש'-ת' עקז' לפי ההשערה), והשאר יהיו ע"ש מנדב אחר.

ומטובו להודיעני החלטתו בזה במשך שבוע הבע"ל, שהוא טרם גמר הדפסת הקיצורים.

בנוסח שמציע להדפיס כותב גם האדרעסע של המנדבים ובודאי, כמנהג אמעריקא, יתרבה ע"י זה מספר המבקשים עזר שיפנו להנ"ל. ולא באתי אלא להעיר.

הרה"ח וכו' הר"מ שי' הכהן דובינסקי כבר הגיש ניירותיו להקאנסול.

ולסיים בענין של תורה: נזדמן לי בקשר עם מכ' שנתקבל לראות באגה"ק ד"ה דוד זמירות, וכותב שם (קס, סע"ב) פנימיות התורה היא מיוחדת לגמרי באואסב"ה כו' ולגבי אסב"ה כל העולמות כלא ממש כו' גם לפנימיות התורה אין לשכחה כו' מאחר דלא ממש חשיבי, עכ"ל.

ולכאורה איפכא מיסתברא, דהול"ל באואסב"ה לא ובתורה כלא, וצ"ע.

זה עתה ניתן להו"ל שיחת חה"פ דשנה זו. אבל היא תודפס בפורמאט קטן, היינו מו שיחת פורים תש"א, יו"ד כסלו תש"ז וכיו"ב, ותחזק לערך כ"ה-ל עמודים. ומסופקני אם משפחת הר"ג הנ"ל יהיו שבעי רצון מחוברת כזו.
