By the grace of Hashem,

Shushan Purim* 5709,

To the Rav, distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav M. P. HaCohen (note 1: Rav Moshe Pinchas Katz. See, regarding him, letter no. 7765),

I greet you and bless you,

This day is the day of the "beginning of the shearing" (note 2: The first haircut, by analogy to the Mitzvah* relating to lambs, the product of which was offered to the Kohen*) of your son (note 3: Rav Yechezkel Zeev Katz). I therefore express the wish that all the blessings granted by my father-in-law, the Rebbe* Shlita*, be fully realized. You and your wife (note 4: Literally, "your house") will educate your son to Torah*, to the wedding canopy, and to good deeds. Very soon and in our days, in what we perceive as near, the gifts to the Kohen* (note 5: The recipient of this letter is a Kohen*) will be reinstated in the proper manner, with the rebuilding of the Temple, which our eyes will witness.

You will convey my greetings to your father-in-law, the Chassid*, Rav D. HaLevi (note 6: Rav David Shtockhammer). Indeed, commenting on the verse: "The Kohanim*, the Leviim*," the Arizal* specifies that those who are currently Leviim* will become Kohanim* in the World to Come, when "the world will know elevation," as explained in chapter 50 of the Tanya*. שלום וברכה!

ביום זה הוא יום "ראשית הגז" של בנו שי', הנני לאחל אשר כל ברכות כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שליט"א יקויימו במילואן, והוא וביתו יחיו יגדלו את בנם לתורה חופה ומעשים טובים. ובמהרה בימינו בעגלא דידן יוחזרו מתנות כהונה על מכונם, בבנין בית המקדש ועינינו תחזינה.
