To Mr. Yosef Yehudah (note 1: Mr. Y. Y. Marton. See, regarding him, letter no. 7565),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter, in which you briefly present your biography. You tell me that you are a music teacher, in a school and in private lessons. It is no doubt unnecessary to comment for you on the Mishnah* according to which: "I was created to serve my Creator" by putting His Will into practice, by studying the Torah* and by fulfilling the Mitzvos*. It follows that a man, whatever his occupation, must necessarily find the means to disseminate true Judaism, with everything it entails, among those with whom he comes into contact and maintains a relationship. How much more is this the case when this relationship is that which exists between a teacher and his student. Indeed, the latter always feels love and respect for the former. In this way, he more readily receives his words, even when these are outside his teaching. And indeed, one can verify concretely that this is the case. Furthermore, according to what you write, your students are essentially young people. Now, every improvement, every transformation of their behavior will also affect their future and, above all, the Jewish home they will build. It follows that every effort, every initiative in this direction is justified.

You are considering joining the studies of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* of Lod, but you enumerate several obstacles that prevent you from doing so. In general, this question will be on the agenda in about a month, after the summer break (note 2: That is, after 9 Av*). It is then that the study program of the Yeshivah* will resume. In the meantime, certain points that you mention in your letter will perhaps find a solution. You also tell me that you have debts. Therefore, you will need to continue working in your field (note 3: Music teaching) after joining the Yeshivah*, in order to be able to repay them. You will surely discuss this with the administration of the Yeshivah*. Indeed, there are various ways to do so without compromising the program of this institution (note 4: Without having to be absent during study time). And it is said that: "salvation comes from many counselors."

May the Creator of the world, Who directs it and grants His Providence to each one, enable you to advance, from one stage to the next, on the path of the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, which leads a Jewish man and a Jewish woman to true happiness, both material and spiritual. I would be gratified to receive good news from you about all of this. With my blessing to give such good news,

במענה למכתבו, בו כותב ראשי פרקים מתולדותיו, ואשר מורה הוא בעניני מוסיקה הן בבי"ס והן לפרטים.

ובודאי למותר להאריך בהסבר דבר המשנה, אני נבראתי לשמש את קוני, והוא ע"י קיום רצון קונו, בלימוד התורה וקיום המצות, שמזה מובן שבאיזה מקצוע שיהי' שמתעסק האדם, ברור שגם בו אפשריות להפיץ היהדות האמיתית ועניני' בתוככי אלה שבא עמהם במגע ובקישור, ועאכו"כ אם הקישור הוא [יחס] שלמורה ותלמיד, אשר תמיד כל תלמיד רגש של אהבה וכבוד אצלו להמורה, שזהו מכשירו ג"כ - את התלמיד - לקבל דברי המורה אפילו שלא בשטח המקצוע, וכנראה כל זה במוחש, ובפרט שלפי כתבו תלמידיו למקצוע הם ברובם מהנוער, אשר כל שיפור ותיקון מצבם, הרי זהו תיקון ושיפור בעניניהם העתיד, ולכל לראש בבנין ביתם בישראל.

ומהנ"ל מובן, אשר כל יגיעה והשתדלות בזה כדאיות הן.

במ"ש אודות כניסה ללמוד בישיבת תומכי תמימים דלוד, ומפרט מניעות אחדות המונעות אותו מזה.

הרי בכלל השאלה בפועל תעמוד על סדר היום בעוד כחודש ויותר, לאחרי ההפסק של הקיץ, שאז סדר מסודר בישיבה, והרי אפשר שבמשך זמן זה יסתדרו איז פרטים מאלה שמזכירם במכתבו.

ובמ"ש שישנם אצלו חובות ולכן גם לאחר שיכנס לישיבה צריך יהי' להמשיך עבודתו במקצוע בכדי לסלק החובות - הנה בטח יבוא בדברים בזה עם הנהלת הישיבה, והרי כמה אפשריות בסידור הנ"ל באופן שיוכל לקיים כל סדרי הישיבה. וכבר נאמר ותשועה ברוב יועץ.

ויהי רצון מבורא עולם ומנהיגו המשגיח על כאו"א בהשגחה פרטית, אשר יעלה מחיל אל חיל בדרך התורה והמצוה, היא הדרך המובילה את האיש והאשה הישראלים לאשרם האמיתי הן בגשמיות והן ברוחניות, וינעם לי לקבל ממנו בשו"ט בכל האמור.
