accomplishments, Rav Shmuel Broyde,

president of the "rescue committee" (note 1: See, on this subject, letters no. 992, 1089, and 2296), Chicago,

I greet you and bless you,

The distinguished Rabbanim*, the great Rav, distinguished and pleasant Chassid*, Rav Shmuel Levitin (note 2: See, regarding him, letter no. 3977) and Rav Eliyahu Simpson (note 3: See, regarding him, letter no. 7761), informed me of the visit they paid you and they spoke your praise for the positive manner in which you view the work of Lubavitch*, in the domain of rescue and education. You promised to come to our aid, through the intermediary of the "rescue committee" of your city. In the meantime, you have surely received my letter, addressed to this rescue committee, in an official manner, last Thursday.

It seems to me that for someone like you, it must be unnecessary to explain at length the immense usefulness of our action and the immense need, at this moment, not only to maintain it as it is and to preserve its current influence, but also to develop and expand it, for the lives of many young Jewish girls depend upon it. I therefore reiterate once more my request. You have a good knowledge, quantitative and qualitative, of this action, not only from what has been reported to you about it, but also from what you have observed with your own eyes. I am therefore persuaded that you will intervene, to the fullest extent possible, so that the rescue committee of your city grants a large aid subsidy, on the one hand for the action that we carry out in Europe and in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, and on the other hand for our activities that take place in North Africa.

Without a doubt, the merit of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, who paved the way through his action of aid and rescue, with self-sacrifice, will protect you, so that you may continue to receive blessing and success, in abundance, in your communal action, as well as in your personal concerns, both material and spiritual. With my blessing,

הרבנים הנכבדים הרה"ג והרה"ח וו"ח, אי"א נו"מ וכו' וכו' מוהר"ר שמואל שי' לויטין ומוהר"ר אלי' שי' סימפסון סיפרו לי מביקורם אצל מע"כ שי' ודברו בשבחו בעד יחסו הטוב שהראה לעבודת ליובאוויטש במקצוע ההצלה והחינוך והבטחתו להיות לנו לעזר על ידי "קרן ההצלה" דמחנו.

בינתים בטח קבל מע"כ שי' את מכתבי הרשמי לקרן ההצלה מיום ה' העבר.

חושבני כי למותר הוא להרחיב הדיבור לדכוותי' על דבר ההכרח החיוני שבעבודתנו זו וגודל דרישת השעה לא רק להחזיק מעמד והיקפה הנוכחי אלא גם להרחיבה ולהגדילה, כי בנפש כמה וכמה מבני ובנות ישראל הוא.

והנני כופל בקשתי לכ"מ שי' ביחוד, אשר מכיר הוא בטיב עבודה זו בכמותה ואיכותה ולא רק מפי השמועה אלא גם מאשר ראה בעיניו, ובטוח אני אשר ישתדל בכל עוז אשר קרן ההצלה דמחנו תקציב עזר הגון הן בעד עבודתנו באירופה ובארה"ק ת"ו והן בעד עבודתנו בצפון אפריקה.

וזכות כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, שסלל לנו הדרך בעבודת העזרה וההצלחה במסירות נפש, בטח תעמוד לו להמשיך ולהשפיע לו שפעת ברכה והצלחה בעבודתו הציבורית ובעניניו הפרטים בגשמיות וברוחניות.
