To the administration of the Chabad* association in the Holy Land,

may it be restored and rebuilt,

I greet you and bless you,

You no doubt know our very esteemed friend, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, who fulfills his mission with faithfulness, has supported our holy institutions for many years and until now still, Rav Yaakov HaCohen Katz, of Chicago (note 1: See, regarding him, letter no. 7855). His father is currently in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, and he needs a dwelling in which he can reside (note 2: See, on this matter, letter no. 7912). We ask you to find him a suitable one, as quickly as possible. You will speak with him about it, for he may already have an indication, a place that he desires. It seems to me that he is in Bnei Brak. When the time comes, he will surely pay all the expenses that result from this, gradually, until paying the full amount. I propose that this dwelling be rented in the name of the Chabad* Chassidim* association in the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt.

I hope that you will obtain this dwelling for him without delay, for according to the information we have, this man is currently in an uncomfortable situation. I thank you for what you will do in this matter. I await, from you, good news on this subject. You will tell me that you have done your best and as quickly as possible. With my blessing for success in your sacred mission, as well as for a kosher and joyous Pesach* festival,

בטח ידוע להם ומכירים את ידידנו הכי נעלה הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ מו"מ באמונה ותומך מוסדותינו הק' משנים קדמוניות עד היום, מוה"ר יעקב שי' כהן כ"ץ משיקאגא, והיות אביו של הנ"ל נמצא כעת באה"ק ת"ו, וצריך לדירה לדור בה, הנני מבקשם להשתדל למצוא עבורו דירה מתאימה בהקדם, ויתדברו עמדו, אולי יש לו כבר מראה מקום לדירה, במקום שלבו חפץ, וכמדומה שהוא בבני ברק, ובמשך הזמן בודאי ישלם אביו ההוצאות הכרוכות בזה, לאט לאט, ועד שישלם סכום הוצאה שתעלה השגת הדירה, הנה הצעתי אשר יקחו את הדירה ע"ש אגודת חסידי חב"ד באה"ק ת"ו.

אקווה שלא ימשיכו את ההשתדלות בהשגת הדירה עבורו, כי לפי הידיעות נמצא הנ"ל בתנאים אי נוחים, ות"ח על טרחתם בזה, ואחכה לידיעה טובה מהם מה שפעלו לטובה בענין זה בהקדם האפשרי.
