By the grace of Hashem,

To the leaders of the Yeshivah* of Lod,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I have just received information on how the one hundred thousand pounds or dollars (note 1: Presumably among several Torah institutions in the Holy Land) will be distributed and I was horrified by it. Indeed, not only was the amount initially allocated here only five thousand, but it has now been further reduced to four thousand (note 2: See, on this matter, letter no. 7915). Some say that the explanation lies in the small number of children from Yemen who are in Lod. Now, this implies three points:

1. I am appalled and astonished, for I have appealed many times to your heart to welcome more and more children from Yemen. It seems that my voice was crying in the wilderness.

2. I do not know how many children from Yemen have been absorbed by the other schools that received infinitely larger amounts.

3. The essential point: these amounts were granted not only for the children who already attend these institutions, but also and above all to receive new ones. The argument invoked is therefore unjustified from the outset.

Concretely, you will no doubt intervene immediately, by all necessary means, to rectify all of this. You will do so with the appropriate eagerness, without nonchalance and without slowness. Awaiting your good news,

זה עתה קבלתי ידיעה אשר חלוקת ה -100,000 (f או $) נעשית באופן כזה:...

נבהלתי לידיעה הנ"ל, אשר לא די מה שלכתחילה הקציבו סכום מצער של 5000 הנה עוד הפחיתו ממנו עד כדי 4000!.

יש אומרים שהטענה היא כי מספר ילדי תימן קטן הוא בלוד. ושלשה ענינים בזה:

הא' - הנני נבהל ונשתומם אשר למרות שדפקתי על לבם זה כמה פעמים לקלוט יותר ויותר מילדי תימן, כנראה הי' זה קול במדבר.

הב' - איני יודע גודל הקליטה מבני תימן במוסדות האחרים שהקציבו להם סכומים גדולים שלא בערך.

הג' - והוא העיקר, הסכומים הנ"ל הוקצבו לא רק בעד הילדים אשר כבר ישנם במוסדות, אלא בעיקר לאפשר קליטתם להבא. במילא הנה הטענה לכתחילה שלא במקומה.

ולמעשה בטח ינקטו תיכף בכל האמצעים הדרושים לתקן הדבר ויעשו זה במרץ המתאים ובלי בטלנות ורשלנות...
