may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

A) I duly received your letter of 21 Iyar*. In my view, it should be possible to hold Mr. Kol accountable for the derisory subsidy that was granted to you, and even then only as a loan, in the amount of four thousand Israeli pounds (note 1: See, on this subject, letter no. 7911). But, it seems that, henceforth, this matters little, since this sum has already been distributed. Nevertheless, for the future, you will be vigilant and you will make sure to learn of this subsidy early enough, so that it will be possible for you to anticipate it and obtain a suitable amount.

B) Consequently, I emphasize once more that it is appropriate to hasten, to the fullest extent possible, regarding the vocational school. It is a pity that I do not have additional information on this matter. Indeed, Dr. Shapiro (note 2: See, regarding him, letters no. 1698 and 1840), whose opinion seems to be decisive in this matter, is currently in the United States. In a week or two, he will return to France. Now, during his stay here, it would have been possible to convince him, if I had more precise details.

C) I was very satisfied with the information, although very brief, that you give me about the trip to Meron*, on the occasion of Lag BaOmer*. No doubt the travelers will send me detailed letters. I send you my blessing to receive the Torah* with joy and in a profound manner, to know success in your sacred mission, that of magnifying and glorifying the Torah*, in accordance with the request of our holy masters, whose merit protects us, that of binding the heavenly Torah* to the Holy One, blessed be He (note 3: By studying it here below),

נתקבל מכתבם מכ"א אייר. ואף שלדעתי אפשר הי' להכנס בדו"ד עם מר קול בנוגע לתמיכה הפעוטה שניתנה להם, וגם זה בתור הלואה, בסכום של ד' אלפים לא"י, אבל כנראה שעתה אין נפ"מ כי כבר נחלק הסכום, אבל עכ"פ בנוגע להבא בטח יעמדו על המשמר להודע בעוד מועד בנוגע להם ולתמיכתם, כדי שאפשר יהי' לקדם פני' ולקבל מהם תמיכה המתאימה.

ב) בהתאם לזה הנה עוד הפעם באתי בהערה להזדרז בענין הבי"ס למלאכה ככל האפשרי, וחבל שאין אצלי ידיעות נוספות בזה, כי הד"ר שפירא, שכנראה דעתו תהי' מכרעת בענין זה, נמצא עתה בארצה"ב ובעוד כשבוע או שבועיים יחזור לצרפת, ובמשך היותו כאן, אפשר הי' להשפיע עליו, אם הי' לי ידיעות נוספות בזה.

ג) שמחתי במאד למה שמודיעים במקצת עכ"פ בענין הנסיעה למירון בל"ג בעומר, ובטח ימלאו הנוסעים - במכתבים מפורטים.
