To the leaders of the Chabad* association in our

Holy Land, may it be restored and

rebuilt, may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

A) Soon there will come to the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, the great Rav, distinguished and pleasant Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Shalom Chaskind (note 1: See, regarding him, letter no. 1650). I wish for him to visit all the institutions, the vacation centers, and the temporary barracks. My objective in this matter is twofold. First, his visit must serve to boost morale on site. Indeed, he himself comes from the United States and he speaks English. Furthermore, he will inspire awe whenever it proves necessary (note 2: See, on this subject, letters no. 865 and 1690). It would therefore be good for you to visit with him all the appropriate institutions, that is to say, not necessarily ours. He will also visit the two Chief Rabbis. And, you will publicize all of this in the appropriate manner, in the newspapers. All the more so will you publicize the enclosed excerpt.

B) I have learned that there is a Mikveh*, in Haifa (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 1850), which was founded by Rav M. M. Kupershtock, may he rest in peace. It is currently under the responsibility of his descendants, but, for various reasons, it is difficult to use. Everything depends on the influence that one has on the sons of this Rav. Now, if it is not used properly, one may fear that this will result in a disgrace to the name of Lubavitch*. I do not know the details of all this and, in fact, it matters little, for you yourselves are on site and surely know the situation. Nevertheless, to the extent possible, it would be good for you to speak with the sons of the Rav and to endeavor to rectify the situation, if there is a way to do so.

C) I have received a request. A Mikveh* is being built in Ramat Hadar Netzach Yisrael Ramatayim and I enclose the names of those who are handling it. To complete it, a sum of two hundred Israeli pounds is lacking. In this place reside Orthodox Jews, who will use this Mikveh* when it is built. If all this information is accurate, it would be good for you to procure this sum for them. Of course, they will use it in the most efficient manner. Without a doubt, Menachem, the son of the Rav of Yekaterinoslav (note 4: The Rebbe himself) will commit to this amount. Nevertheless, one must not wait and, as soon as you have given it, you will let me know.

D) I have received a request from my close relative, Rav Avraham Dovid Yanovski, who tells me that the state of health of his wife makes a larger dwelling necessary, according to the advice of the doctors, but they lack the means for this. It therefore seems to me that the aforementioned Menachem (note 4: The Rebbe himself) will also commit in this matter, for an amount of one thousand Israeli pounds, if Rav A. D. finds a suitable apartment.

E) I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letters of 17 Iyar* and the reports of the meetings of 9, 25, and 27 Iyar*, as well as that of 9 Sivan*.

F) You will no doubt receive the twelve thousand Israeli pounds from the Jewish Agency, for the construction. I would like to know what you will do with them.

G) In the end, what is the situation with the union for the Shemittah* (note 5: The seventh year of the land. The year 5712 was the Shemittah* year)?

H) Rav Goldman proposed to found a school in the outskirts of Yerushalayim*, may it be restored and rebuilt. What has been done in this matter? With my blessing for success in your sacred mission,

בקרוב יבוא לאה"ק ת"ו הרה"ג והרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"נ וכו מוה"ר שלום שי' חסקינד, אשר ברצוני שיבקר בכל המוסדות, מחנות ומעברות וכו'. ושתי כוונות לי בזה: הא) שישתמשו בביקורו לענין הרמת הרוח, כיון שבא מאה"ב ומדבר אנגלית וכו', וג"כ להפחדה במקום שצריך להפחדה. אשר במילא כדאי לסדר שיבקרו עמו כל המוסדות המתאימים (ולאו דוקא משלנו) וכן אצל הרבנים הראשיים וכו'. ובטח יעשו ג"כ פרסום המתאים בעתונים, ומכש"כ וק"ו מהקטע המוסג"פ.

ב. קבלתי ידיעה שישנה מקוה בחיפה מיסודו של הרמ"מ קופרשטאק ע"ה, ונמצאת עתה ברשות יוצאי חלציו שי', אלא שמפני כמה סיבות ישנם קישויים בהשתמשות בה, ותלוי זה בהשפעה על בני הרב הנ"ל, ואם לאו יש מקום לחשש דחילול שם ליובאוויטש.

אינני יודע פרטי הדבר, ובטח אין נ"מ כל כך, כי להם על אתר ודאי ידוע המצב בזה. ואם יש רק אפשרות מהנכון שידברו עם בני הרב ע"ד הנ"ל וישתדלו בתיקון הדבר בכל האפשרות.

ג. הגיעתני בקשה שבונים מקוה ברמת הדר נצח ישראל רמתיים, ואלו שמות המתעסקים בזה [...],וחסר הסיום לגמר בסך של לערך מאתים ל"י, והמקום מקום מושב יהודים חרדים, אשר בטח ישתמשו בהמקוה כשתוגמר. ואם כל הנ"ל, אמת הוא, נכון במאד שיתנו להם סך הנ"ל, כמובן שישתמשו בו באופן היותר מתאים, ובודאי מנחם בהרב מיקטרינוסלב יקח זה על עצמו, אלא שאין כדיא לחכות, ובלבד שיודיעוהו אח"כ שעשו כנ"ל.

ד. קבלתי בקשה מש"ב ר' אברהם דוד שי' ינובסקי אשר מצב בריאות זוג' שתחי' דורש עפ"י הוראת הרופאים דירה נוחה יותר, וחסרים להם האמצעים על זה, ונראה לי אשר מנחם הנ"ל, יקח גם זה על עצמו עד סכום של אלף ל"י אם הרא"ד ימצא דירה מתאימה.

ה. אאשר בזה קבלת מכתביהם מי"ז אייר והפרטי-כל מהאסיפות ט', כ"ה, כ"ז אייר וט' סיון.

ו. בטח מקבלים הי"ב אלף ל"י לבנין מהסוכנות. ואתענין לדעת מה עושים בהם.

ז. מהו סוף דבר מפעל השביעית?

ח. הרב גולדמן הציע לייסד בי"ס בפרוזדור ירות"ו. מה נעשה בזה?
