To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes

himself to communal needs, Rav Raphael (note 1: Rav Raphael Nachman Kahn) HaCohen,

I greet you and bless you,

I thank you very much for your gift, the notes of your memories from the year 5677 (note 2: 1917). (note 3: See, on this subject, the Igros Kodesh* of the Rebbe Rashab*, volume 2, letter no. 491). Without a doubt, if you recall additional details of what concerns this gathering, in general, and my father and master, in particular, you will not fail to communicate them to me in your next letters. I have also been told that you are worried about not receiving letters from your son (note 4: Rav Yoel Kahn). I hope that in the future, all of this will be resolved. In keeping with your positive habit, you will surely describe to me in detail the Chassidic* gatherings of Kislev*, the month of the liberation, both those in which you personally took part and those of which you learned from their participants.

I am concerned and pained by the lack of a proper organization at the Yeshivah* of Tel Aviv, despite the discussions and exchanges of letters that there have been between us. I do not know what means to use so that this institution of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, be in conformity with his will, which means that all those who participate in it — you yourselves, the members of the administration, the teachers, the dean, the students — must understand that they are the delegates of its founder, charged with illuminating the world through the intermediary of this institution. It is surely unnecessary to say more. With my blessing for good health and to derive, together with your wife, much satisfaction from all your children,

I have just received your letters of 16 and 20 Kislev*, with the requests for blessing that I will read near the holy tomb (note 5: Of the Previous Rebbe). I thank you for your note about 19 Kislev*, although it is brief. It would be good for you to seek, calmly, an easier job.

ת"ח ת"ח על תשורתו רשימות זכרונות מקיץ עזר"ת. ובטח אם יזכור עוד פרטים, מהאסיפה הנ"ל בכלל ובנוגע לאבי אאמו"ר זצ"ל בפרט, בודאי ימלא במכתביו הבאים, וכן ימשיך ברשימת זכרונות גם מזמנים אחרים, ות"ח מראש.

מסרו לי, אשר דואג הוא על אי קבלת מכתבים מבנו שי', אבל תקותי שמכאן ולהבא יסודר זה,

בודאי כמנהגו הטוב יודיע בפרטיות ע"ד התועדיות דחדש כסלו הוא חדש הגאולה - כן מאלו אשר נוכח בעצמו, וגם במקומות אלו הידועם לו מפי אלו שהשתתפו שם.

אצטער ואדאג במאד, להעדר הסתדרות המתאימה בהישיבה דתל אביב, למרות השקו"ט והחליפות מכתבים שהיו מהכא להתם ומהתם להכא. ואיני יודע באיזה אמצעים לאחוז בכדי שמוסד כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר יהי' מתאים לרצונו, היינו שכל המשתתפים בו והם - ההנלה, הר"מ והר"י, התלמידים - יבינו שהם שלוחים מהמייסד, להאיר חלקם בעולם ע"י מוסד זה. והאריכות אך למותר.

בברכה לבריאת הנכונה ולרוב נחת חסידותי מכל יו"ח - ביחד עם זוגתו שיחיו.
