To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes

himself to communal needs, Rav Shalom (note 1: Rav Sh. Posner. See, regarding him, letter no. 7767),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 25 Tammuz*, in which you contemplate the opening of the following classes (note 2: See, on this subject, letter no. 7939), at the Yeshivah* Achei Temimim* of your city, which would be added to those that already exist. You consider that this will be able to retain some students of the upper classes, who, in this way, will continue their studies at the Yeshivah*. You ask me whether it is possible to send to your city six or seven students from here (note 3: See, on this subject, letter no. 7997), with a dean for the Yeshivah*, to devote themselves to these students.

It is clear that it is very judicious to add upper classes, as the Likkutei Torah* explains, Parshas* Shelach*, at page 38c. Regarding the sending of students from here, one should address the administration of the Yeshivah*. However, such a sending will raise several difficulties. Above all, there is no reason for their parents to accept the principle, for this goes against the custom according to which one moves from a small city to a large one, from an elementary Yeshivah* to a higher Yeshivah*, but not the reverse. No doubt you also recall the experience of Chicago (note 4: See the Toldos Chabad Be'Artzos HaBris, at pages 265 and 266), in this matter, which was not conclusive, although all conditions are not identical and it seems that it would be, in this case, much easier. But, in any event, I do not entirely exclude this proposal and, as I said, you will discuss it with the administration of the Yeshivah*.

Mr. Dach wishes to have a Mikveh* built in your courtyard. No doubt, this will not raise any controversy. If that is the case, it will be an excellent initiative for all the parties concerned. With my blessing for success,

במענה על מכתבו מכ"ה תמוז, בו כותב ע"ד הסברא לסדר המשך הכתות של ישיבת אחי תמימים במחנם הט', נוסף על אלו שישנם עתה, אשר כפי השערתו, יכול לעכב איזה תלמידים הנמצאים בכתות הגבוהות שימשיכו לימודם בישיבה גם להבא, ושואל אם אפשר יהי' לשלוח מכאן 7 - 6 תלמידים עם ראש ישיבה למחנם הט' בכדי להשגיח על תלמידים הנ"ל.

והנה בודאי אשר להוסיף כתות גבוהות יותר נכון במאד מאד (לקו"ת שלח לח, ג).

ובנוגע להענין דשילוח תלמידים מכאן, הנה צריך להתדבר בזה עם הנהלת הישיבה דכאן, אבל, לכאורה, כמה קישויים בדבר. והעיקר, אשר לכאורה הורי הנ"ל, אינם צריכים להסכים ע"ז, כיון שזהו היפך דרך הרגיל, כי נוסעים מעיר קטנה לעיר גדולה ומישיבה קטנה לישיבה יותר גדולה - ולא להיפך. ובודאי זוכר ג"כ הנסיון בשיקאגא עד"ז ושלא הצליח, אף כי לא כל התנאים שוים, משא"כ - אם היו מוסיפים אומץ אודות הנערים ובחורים בעירו, ומסתברא שזהו נקל הרבה יותר. ובכ"א איני שולל את הענין, וכנ"ל שיתדבר עם הנהלת הישיבה.

שיעשה מר דאן שי' מקוה בחצר כת"ר - ובטח יהי' בלא מחלוקת - נכון במאד ומכל הצדדים.
