To the directors of the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak network in our

Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt,

may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

A) I have duly received your letters of 4, 16, 21, 22, 23, 29, and 30 Menachem Av*, with what was enclosed therein. I thank you very much for announcing this good news to me, the success you observe in your work. You feel the blessing of our leader, whose name these schools bear, and he grants you protection and success. May Hashem grant that it be so in the coming days, in accordance with the ruling of our Sages according to which one experiences elevation in the domain of holiness.

B) I await good news, as soon as possible, of the positive outcome of the subsidies you are to receive for these schools, as you cite in your letter, as well as of the follow-up to the proposal to create a school near Haifa.

C) Some time ago, Siddurim* and Sifrenu were sent to the bookseller, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, Rav Yehuda Shmotkin (note 1: See, regarding him, letter no. 7948). He is currently being written to so that he make some of them available to the network (note 2: Of the Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch schools in the Holy Land), in accordance with what you indicate in your letter.

D) I also read, with dismay, in your letter, that this Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, has been relieved of his duties (note 3: See the following letter) and that his father has, consequently, ceased to give his participation. My dismay is not motivated by the fear of a lack of means that the network (note 2) would suffer. Indeed, I have the conviction that my father-in-law, the Rebbe, will provide for it. But, one knows the saying and the commentary of the Rebbe Maharash*, regarding the verse: "deliverance and salvation will come from another source, but you and the house of your father will be lost," according to which: "for yourselves, this merit will be lost."

E) You tell me that the checks must bear two signatures and I am satisfied, for our Sages indeed say that Tzedakah* requires the presence of two people.

F) You will surely remain in contact with the great Rav and Chassid*, Rav Yisrael Abuchatzeira (note 4: "Baba Saleh"). Indeed, in addition to the letter of request that was addressed to him, he has influence over the Sephardim*. The proximity, on both sides, will surely be fruitful.

G) It is good and judicious that all the teachers who are connected to us organize themselves and begin their studies, not on the 25th of Tishrei*, the official date of the start of classes, but well before that, according to the needs. You must motivate the best teachers you have had until now, as well as the teachers who are among the Chassidim* and are necessary for the functioning of the network (note 2). In the end, the debts of 5713 (note 5: 1952-1953) were indeed paid. Without a doubt, the same will therefore be the case in 5714 (note 6: 1953-1954) and surely even with conditions improved compared to the current situation. As you requested, I also communicated my position by telegram, the text of which was the following:

"It is entirely judicious that the start of classes, in the schools of the network, be in Elul*. I have good hope that the teachers and the Chassidim* will mobilize for this project, to the extent of the needs. Without a doubt, their salary will be assured. I await good news. My signature."

I address to you my blessing for supernatural success in your sacred mission. No doubt you will take advantage, for this, of the remaining days of 5713, which was a year of success, at least in the places where concrete action was introduced. With my blessing that each of you be inscribed and sealed for good health, together with the members of his family,

מאשר הני קבלת מכתביהם מד' ט"ז כ"א כ"ב כ"ג כ"ט ול' מנ"א עם המצורפים אליהם, ת"ח ת"ח על הבשו"ט אשר רואים הצלחה בעבודתם ומרגישים אשר ברכת נשיאנו שעל שמו נקראים המוסדות שורה עליהם ומשפיע ברכה והצלחה, כן יוסיף השי"ת לימים יבואו וכפסק רז"ל, מעלין בקודש.

ב) אחכה לבשו"ט בהקדם מהסיום הטוב בענין התשלומין שעליהם לקבל

מהמוסדות שנזכרו במכתבם וכן מהמשך בענין הצעה ליסוד בית ספר בסביבות חיפה.

ג) זה מזמן נשלחו סידורים וספרנו להמו"ס הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ מוה"ר יהודא שי' שמוטקין וכותבים עתה אליו שימסור לצרכי הרשת סך מסויים של סידורים וספרנו מתאים לבקשתם במכתבם.

... ה) נבהלתי לקרות במכתבם אודות התפטרותם של הוו"ח אי"א נו"ע מו"ה...ש י'... ממשרתו, וכן אביו מהסיוע שלו. ואין סיבת הבהלה שלי פן יחסר סיוע בהרשת, כי מובטחני בכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר שימלא את זה, אבל כבר ידוע פתגם ופירוש כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהר"ש עה"פ ריוח והצלה יעמוד ממקום אחר ואת ובית אביך תאבדו את הזכות לזה ...

ו) נהניתי ממ"ש אשר נהגו בשתי חתימות על הטשעקין, וכמרז"ל בענין צדקה שצריכה להיות בשנים.

ז) בטח יעמדו בקישור עם הרה"ג והרה"ח כו' וכו' מוה"ר ישראל אביחצ[י]רא שי', כי מלבד המכתב שמבקשים ממנו הנה יש לו השפעה בחוג הספרדים... הקירוב הדעת משני הצדדים בטח יבוא תועלת.

... י) טוב ונחוץ שיארגנו כל המורים השייכים אלינו ויתחילו בלימודים לא בכ"ה תשרי, שזהו התחלת זמן הרשמי, אלא קודם לזה, כפי צורך הענינים. ועליהם לגייס טובי המורים שהיו אצלם עד עתה וכן המורים מבין אנ"ש הנחוצים לעבודה בהרשת, וכמו שסו"ס שלמו החובות דשנת תשי"ג, הרי בודאי יקבלו המורים בשנת תשי"ד את משכורתם, ובודאי באופנים טובים יותר מאשר עד עתה, ומתאים לבקשתם שלחתי ג"כ דעתי זו במברק וז"ל:

"התחלת הלימודים במוסדות הרשת באלול נכונה במאד, ובטחוני חזק שהמורים מאנ"ש, יגייסו עצמם לתכנית זו כפי הצורך, ובודאי תהי' משכורתם בטוחה. ואחכה לבשורות טובות. חתימתי".

... בברכת הצלחה בעבודתם הקדושה בדרך למעלה מן הטבע, ובטח ינצלו בזה גם את הימים של שנת תשי"ג שהיתה שנת הצלחה בהמקומות שהתחילו עכ"פ במעשה בפועל, ובברכת כוח"ט לכאו"א מהם וב"ב שיחיו.
