By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter from the eve of the holy Shabbos* (note 1: This letter is addressed to Rav Raphael Nachman HaCohen Kahn. See, regarding him, letter no. 7878). You should have explained to this man that it is inconceivable to adopt such conduct toward Hashem. Initially, when his daughter was ill, he made a commitment. Subsequently, he observed it in a less scrupulous manner, then, when she suffered again, he remembered his promise. One must explain all of this to him with pleasant words, calmly. Hashem will grant you success so that you find the fitting words and that he himself have attentive ears.

I thank you for the continuation of the talks, which I have duly received. No doubt you will continue all of this (note 2: The sending of these texts) in the future. I heard from my father-in-law, the Rebbe, your account (note 3: See the book by Rav Kahn, Shemuos VeSippurim, edition of 5750 (1990), volume 1, at page 125) of the trip of the Rebbe Rashab* and his son, my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us, to the widow and her daughters, but a few details thereof were different.

On the occasion of the approaching new year, for us and for all of Israel, for the good and for blessing, I express my wishes, to you yourself and to the members of your family, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually. With my blessing,

ועליו הי' להסביר ל... שי' אז דאס איז ניט קיין סדר להתנהג ככה עם השי"ת, אז פריער ווען די טאכטער איז נישט היינט געדאכט ניט געזונט זאגט מען צו, און דערנאך ווערט מען שוואך אין דעם צוזאג און מען ווארט ביז ר"ל עס קומט א נייער מיחוש און מען דערמאנט זיך אויף דעם צוזאג.

ו[דברים] אלו צריך להסבירו בדרכי נועם ובנחותא וכו'. והשי"ת יצליחו למצוא האותיות המתאימות ואשר אצל... שי' יהיו אודנין פתיחין.

ת"ח על המשך השיחות שקבלתי, ובטח [י]משיך בזה גם על להבא (הסיפור שלו אודות הנסיעה של כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב ובנו כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע להאלמנה ובנותי' וכו' שמעתי מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר אודותם אף כי איזה פרטים הם בשינויים).

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולב"ב שיחיו ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
