To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to

communal needs, Rav Moshe Pinchas HaCohen (note 1: Rav M. P. HaCohen Katz. See, regarding him, letter no. 7765),

I greet you and bless you,

A) I received, with pleasure, your letter of 23 Elul*. Although the moment is not at all propitious for writing letters, the pleasure and joy caused by the news of your interest and your intervention to pay what is owed to the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav I. D. Groner (note 2: Rav Yitzchak Dovid Groner, at the time a teacher at the Lubavitch Yeshivah* in New York and, subsequently, the Rebbe's emissary in Australia). I therefore made an exception and took of my time to write you these few lines. May Hashem grant you to continue on this path, with even more ardor, especially since you are a Kohen*. Thus, through your intermediary, the other people connected to the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*, or working there, will also receive what is owed to them, in the fitting manner. For, nothing can stand before the will.

B) Consequently, it would be good for your efforts to also bear upon the following point. You surely know that Rav Sh. Kontorov, may he rest in peace, bequeathed in his will a sum to the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* and the remainder to his children. Now, they would not object to his being buried in a plot he had purchased in another cemetery. In this way, there would be no reason to charge them for a plot in the Chabad* association cemetery. Concretely, he is buried, for the time being, on a plot that has not been paid for and there is no reason to leave things as they are. It would therefore be good and judicious, perhaps even indispensable, for the Yeshivah* to deduct, from the amount the deceased bequeathed to it, the price ordinarily paid for such a plot. I had underlined this point, but nothing was done, for various reasons. Above all, the Yeshivah* has already received a portion of this inheritance and one must therefore consider this payment. Of course, I will speak about this to others as well. Nevertheless, one confers merit upon the one who possesses it by nature. No doubt, for your part, you will therefore do everything in your power.

On the occasion of the approaching new year, for us and for all of Israel, for the good and for blessing, I express my wishes, to you yourself and to the members of your family, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually. With my blessing for success,

נהניתי בקבלת מכתבו מכ"ג אלול, ואף שאין הזמן גרמא כלל לכתיבת מכתבים, הנה מהנעימות והשמחה אשר גרם לי בהידיעה מהתענינותו ופעולותיו לסלק את המגיע להרה"ח הוו"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ כון' מוהרי"ד שי' גראנער, יצאתי מגדרי ומגדר הזמן וכותב הנני שורותי אלה, ויה"ר מהשי"ת אשר ילך בדרכו זו ובתוס' אומץ כו', ובפרט בתור כהן, שע"י יושפע המגיע גם לשאר השייכים ועובדים בישיבת תו"ת באופן המתאים, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

ובהתאם לזה:

ב) כדאי הי' שישתדל גם בענין הבא לקמן, והוא כי בטח ידוע לו אשר הרה"ח כו' מוהר"ש קונטורוב ע"ה הנה כיון שע"פ צוואתו קצב סכום בשביל הישיבה תו"ת ולבניו לא הי' איכפת להם אם הי' נקבר בהלאט שקנה בביה"ח אחר, ובמילא לא הי' מקום לבקש מאתם לשלם בעד הקרקע דביה"ח אגודת חב"ד, וסו"ס קבור הוא עד עתה בקרקע שלא שלמו בעדה, און מיט אזעלכע זאכען דארפמען זיך ניט טשעפען. ולכן הי' מהנכון וטוב, ואולי גם מוכרח, שמהסכום אשר הקציב המנוח הנ"ל, בעד הישיבה, תשלם הישיבה המחיר במקח השוה מה שמשלמים בעד קרקע כזו, ועוררתי עד"ז עתה ולא קודם מכמה סיבות. והעיקר כיון שכבר נכנס להישיבה חלק מהעזבון של הנ"ל צריך לסדר את הנ"ל, מובן שגם מצד אחר אעורר אודות זה, אבל מגלגלין זכות ע"י זכאי, ובטח מצדו יעשה התלוי בו.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל לכל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולב"ב שיחיו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
