and devotes himself to communal needs,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter, as well as your request for blessing, together with your precious gift, a handwritten letter of the Rebbe Maharash*. I thank you for this present. You surely know to whom this letter was addressed. You will therefore specify it to me at the next opportunity. In this connection, he (note 2: The Rebbe Maharash*) speaks, in the margin of his letter, of roosters (note 3: See the Igros Kodesh* of the Rebbe Maharash*, letter no. 6*). This presumably alludes to a letter (note 4: See the Igros Kodesh* of the Rebbe Maharash*, letter no. 6) that the Rebbe Maharash* wrote to the great Rav and Chassid*, Rabbi Dovid Tzvi Chen (note 5: A Chassid* of the Tzemach Tzedek* whom the Chassidim* called the Radatz). This letter is in the collection of manuscripts of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us (note 6: And was therefore subsequently published in the framework of the Igros Kodesh*).

On the occasion of the approaching new year, for us and for all of Israel, for the good and for blessing, I express my wishes, to you yourself and to the members of your family, that you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually. דא"ג - מ"ש בשולי המכתב בדבר התרנגולים, הנה כנראה הכוונה למכתב כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהר"ש שנכתב להרה"ג הרה"ח הרד"צ נ"ע חן ונמצא באוסף כי"ק של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ולקראת השנה החדשה הבאה עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה להביע ברכתי לו ולב"ב שיחיו, ברכת כתיבה וחתימה טובה לשנה טובה ומתוקה בגשמיות וברוחניות.
