I bless you and greet you,

Once again, it has already been some time since I have had a letter and news from you. But the Chassidim*, since the preceding generations, have taken the habit of not writing when all is going well. Already the Admur HaZaken* complained about this (note 2: See the Igros Kodesh* of the Admur HaZaken*, volume 1, letter no. 90), but, judging by the behavior of the following generations, it seems that his complaint did not fully produce its effect, so that this custom was maintained. In fact, I would very much like to interpret in this way your own manner of acting (note 3: To admit that all is going well). Nevertheless, a verification is possible (note 4: Is all really going well?), in this case, and there is therefore no reason to rely on a presumption. Consequently, you will kindly write to me, about yourself and about your husband, as well as about your mother, the Rebbetzin*. May Hashem grant that your letter announce to me only good news.

In your last letter, you tell me that you will perhaps send me what you have written and what has been published. You will therefore do so, although one does not fully reveal oneself in what is published for the general public, in any case less so than in a letter. Nevertheless, it is clear that every element is useful for completing the image one has of a person. I enclose a copy of the letter I wrote about the recent holiday of the liberation of 19 Kislev* (note 5: This refers to letter no. 2292). Indeed, its content partially responds to what you wrote to me. I warmly greet your mother, the Rebbetzin*, and your husband. Awaiting your good news,

ברכה ושלום!

זה שוב זמן רב שלא קבלתי ממנה כל מכתבים וידיעות, וכבר מורגל אצל חסידים גם מדורות שלפנינו, שכאשר הכל שלום הנה אין כותבים, ואף שרבינו הזקן כבר התאונן על זה, הנה כנראה ממנהג הדורות שלאחריו לא פעלה הקו[ב]לנא שלו במילואה והמנהג עודנו קיים.

ובאמת רציתי במאד גם בנוגע אלי' לפרש שתיקותה בנוהג הנ"ל, ובכ"ז כיון שאפשר לברר הרי אין סומכין על החזקה, ות"ח אם תכתוב הן אודות עצמה ובעלה שי' וכן אמה הרבנית תחי', ויה"ר שאך טוב תבשר במכתבי'.

וכיון שבמכתבה האחרון כותבת שיתכן שתשלח את מה שכתבה ונדפס, הנה תמלא גם זה, אף שבכלל [ב]מה שנדפס לרבים אין מתגלה האדם כ"כ ועכ"פ פחות יותר מאשר במכתב, אבל למילוי ושלימות קוי הדמות בודאי הנה כל ענין מועיל.
