To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself

to communal needs, Rav Azriel Zelig (note 1: Rav A. Z. Sharfstein, of Cincinnati. See, regarding him, letter no. 4523) and

his wife, Mrs. Rivka,

I greet you and bless you,

After a long silence, I received with pleasure your letter of 28 Kislev* and I took note therein of the good news, the Chassidic* gathering that took place on the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, with those who participated. May Hashem grant that this be a good beginning for disseminating the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*) to the outside, until this outside becomes inside. You write to me: "We do not observe the implementation of the mission entrusted." Now, what was said above contradicts your complaints. Indeed, it is only said that "all beginnings are difficult" (note 3: But not what follows). In the future, you will surely see good fruits of your activity for Judaism, in general, and for Chassidus*, in particular.

I read with pleasure, in your letter, that your wife also works in the domain of proper education. The merit of bringing the hearts of the sons and daughters of Israel closer to their origin will therefore protect you, in all your needs, both material and spiritual. Moreover, I am surprised not to have had news, for some time, from Rav Yosef Goldstein. May Hashem grant that this mean that all is well (note 4: Just as one says: "No news, good news"). לאחרי השתיקה הארוכה נעם לי לקבל מכתב מכ"ח [כסלו] ולקרות בו הבשורה טובה אודות התועדות דיום הבהיר הוא י"ט כסלו בהשתתפות של כו' ויה"ר שתהי' זה התחלה טובה להפצת המעינות חוצה, עד שיעשו מהחוץ פנים. ומה שכותב "שאין אנו רואים במוחש מילוי תפקידם", הנה ענין הנ"ל הוא מכחיש את התלונה שלו. וכיון שרק כל התחלות קשות, בודאי בעתיד יראו פרי טוב בעבודתם ליהדות בכלל ולחסידות בפרט.

נעם לי לקרות במכתבו שגם זוגתו תחי' עובדת בשדה החנוך הכשר, וזכות זה שמקרבים לבבות בני ובנות ישראל למקור מחצבתם - תעמוד להם בכל המצטרך בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.

לפלא שזה מזמן שאין כל ידיעות מהרב יוסף שי' גאלדשטיין, ויה"ר שיהי' זה סימן שהכל בסדר.
