To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself to

communal needs, Rav Menachem Zeev HaLevi (note 1: Rav M. Z. Gringlass, of Montreal. See, regarding him, letter no. 7774),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 22 Shevat* and of the Rosh Chodesh* in which one multiplies one's joy (note 2: That of Adar*). I await the continuation of your good news, in accordance with your conclusion, since you tell me that you will let me know the reactions of the guests (note 3: Who came to visit the Rebbe), when they are communicated to you. I am also satisfied that you correspond with Rav I. A. Z. Margolis (note 4: Rav Yeshaya Asher Zelig Margolis. See, on this subject, letter no. 8049). No doubt you will strengthen your bond with him, for one can indeed think that he will have the merit of being, consciously or not, the channel that will disseminate, to a certain circle of undeniable importance, the wellsprings of the Baal Shem Tov*, as they are explained by Chassidus* Chabad*. Every effort in this direction is therefore justified.

I read, with great pleasure, the note written by the student Nissan Mangel. Indeed, I did not know that he grasped and analyzed to such a degree. Our Sages say that: "one who makes efforts finds the result," which indeed means that this result is a "find," bearing no proportion to the effort invested. Indeed, may Hashem grant him the merit of increased success, of a "find" that will truly bear no proportion. Furthermore, I have just received the manuscript of my great-grandfather, Rav A. D. (note 5: Rav Avraham David Lawut. See, on this subject, letters no. 1900 and 1954). I thank you from the depths of my heart and, in the future, you will continue your efforts in this direction (note 6: To obtain others), to the extent of your possibilities. With my blessing for giving good news of all of this and of everything in general, as well as for prolonging the joy of Purim* throughout the year,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מכ"ב שבט ור"ח דמרבין בשמחה, ואחכה להמשך בשו"ט, מתאים לסיום מכתבו, שיודיע לאחר שיוודע אצל האורחים וכו'.

נהניתי ממה שעומד בקישור מכתבים עם הריא"ז שי' מרגלית. ובודאי יחזק הקישור, והרי יש מקום לומר, שיזכה הנ"ל להיות צינור, אם בידיעתו או שלא בידיעתו, להפצת מעיינות הבעש"ט וכפי ביאורם בתורת החסידות, חב"ד בחוג מסוים וחשוב, ובמילא כל השתדלות בזה כדאית היא.

... נהניתי עונג רב בקראי את רשימת התלמיד ניסן שי' מאנגעל, כי לא שיערתי מתחלה עד כדי כך - הן בהתפיסא והן בההבנה. והשי"ת יזכה את הנ"ל, שנוסף על המגיע ע"פ פסק רז"ל יגעת ומצאת שהוא מציאה לפ"ע היגיעה, אלא שיתוסף בזה גם הצלחה, היינו מציאה שלא לפי ערך.

עתה נת' הכת"י של א"ז הרא"ד ז"ל. ות"ח מקול"ע - עכ"ז, וגם על להבא בכגון דא שבודאי ישתדל ככל יכולתו.

בברכה לבשו"ט בכל הנ"ל ובכלל, והמשכת שמחת פורים על כל השנה כולה.
