You speak to me of dissensions within the administration. You will understand to what degree this news saddens me, for I thought that at least among the young, who have enough work for all, as the Torah* says regarding the construction of the Sanctuary: "there was enough and there remained," time would not permit devoting oneself to the evil force of Midyan* (note 1: That of dispute), as explained at length in the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "Enlist for yourselves," found in the Likkutei Torah* and those bearing the same title that were delivered subsequently, up to the leader of our generation, my father-in-law, in particular the Kuntres HeChaltzou*, of 5669 (note 2: 1909, of the Rebbe Rashab*) and its supplements. But, it turns out that we have not yet had the merit. It seems that he (note 3: The evil inclination) still dances among us and destroys all that is positive.

I have received from the administration no official information on this subject and I therefore do not wish to take a position officially, for I would then have to express my analysis as it is, without adornment. Why then compel me to cause suffering to Jews or even to their animal soul? According to what you specify to me, your habit is not to intervene when there is a dispute and this attitude is very judicious. Nevertheless, it is you who raise all of this in your letter. Without intervening directly, you will therefore use all means so that hearts draw closer as quickly as possible. You find a way to extract the situation from the mire, without my having to slip into it myself.

... מ"ש אודות החיכוכים שבהנהלת... הנה מובן עד כמה שמצערת אותי הידיעה, כי אמר אמרתי שעכ"פ בין הצעירים, שדי' ומספיקה עבודה לכולם, וכמו שנאמר במלאכת המשכן די והותר , הנה לא יהי' להם זמן להתעסק בקליפת מדין, וכמבואר בארוכה בדרוש החלצו בלקו"ת, ובדרושי החלצו שלאחר זה ועד נשיא דורנו כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר בקונטרס החלצו רנ"ט בהוספה. וכנראה שעדיין לא זכינו לכך, ומרקד בינינו להחריב כל חלקה טובה.

אלא שכיון שעדיין לא קבלתי מהנהלת... בזה כל ידיעה רשמית, אין רצוני להתערב בזה באופן רשמי, כיון שאז מוכרחני להגיד את הערכתי ע"ד זה כפי שהיא בלי כחל ובלי שרק ולמה זה יכריחוני לצער אנשים מבני ישראל ואפילו את נפש הבהמית שלהם.

וכיון שנגע בזה במכתבו - הנה אף ששיטתו, כמו שכותב, לא להתערב בענין מחלוקת נכונה היא במאד, אבל מבלי להכנס במחלוקת בזה - יאחז בכל האמצעים שיתקרבו הלבבות בהקדם היותר אפשרי, וימצאו עצה ווי ארויסצוקריכן פון בלאטע מבלי שאוכרח גם אני להכנס שמה.
