By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter, in which you tell me that you are in a phase of moral decline. Of course, such a feeling must have the effect of redoubling your constancy and your ardor in the study of the Torah* and, in particular, of its profound dimension (note 1: Which is revealed by Chassidus*), which enlivens and illuminates, for each person, all the domains of holiness, for even a little light suffices to repel much darkness (note 2: All the more so for much light). You must also not exaggerate this decline, which may Hashem forbid, as explained in the Chassidic* discourse entitled: "A Psalm, a song for the day of Shabbos*" (note 3: See the Sefer HaMaamarim* Admur HaEmtzai*, Nach, page 539), which has just appeared. Furthermore, you will also study, with all the necessary attention, chapters 27 to 29 of the holy Tanya*.

It would be good for you to meet the spiritual guides teaching Chassidus* at the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim*. You will share your concern with them. Thus will be fulfilled the promise formulated by our Sages regarding the verse: "If a man has a concern in his heart, he will speak of it" (note 4: He will uproot it from his heart and speak to others who will be able to help him, according to the two interpretations given of this verse). With my blessing to study the Torah* with vitality and to strengthen your commitment to Chassidus*, to its directives and its ways, as well as for giving good news,

במענה על מכתבו בו כותב אשר מרגיש ירידה במצבו הרוחני וכו', וכמובן אשר לכל רגש בכגון דא צריך להוסיף בהתמדה ושקידה בלימוד התורה. ובפרט בלימוד פנימיות התורה הנותנת חיות ואור בכל ענינים דקדושה של אדם. ואפי' מעט אור דוחה הרבה חושך.

כן יש להזהר מלהגזים ח"ו באופן הירידה, כמובן ג"כ מד"ה מזמור שיר ליום השבת לכ"ק אדמו"ר האמצעי אשר יצ"ל זה עתה. ואח"כ ילמוד בשימת לב הראוי' בספר תניא קדישא פרק כ"ז-כ"ט.

ומה טוב אשר יתודע עם המשפיעים דא"ח בישיבת תו"ת ויסיח לפניהם דאגתו ויקוים בו מארז"ל עה"פ דאגה בלב איש ישיחנה וכו'.
