To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself

to communal needs, Rav Shlomo Chaim (note 1: Rav Sh. Ch. Kasselman. See, regarding him, letter no. 7416),

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 2 Shevat*, with the requests for blessing that were enclosed and that will be read, at a propitious moment, near the holy tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit will protect us. You tell me that the opinion of a single person led to the dismissal of a certain individual from the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* (note 2: Presumably a teacher). It is clear that such a state of affairs is frightening, especially since this young man possesses a good knowledge of Chassidus*, of its customs and its practices. You therefore understand what such a dismissal means, which may Hashem forbid. He is thus excluded from the heritage of Hashem. It is needless to say more, for this is quite evident. It is a pity to waste time discussing what is painful and flagrant, when one could have used this time in a totally different manner.

The students have surely been prepared, in the fitting manner, for the Hilloula* (note 3: Of the Previous Rebbe) of 10 Shevat*, which approaches and, all the more so, for the very day of this Hilloula*. May the merit of the one whose Hilloula* we celebrate protect each of us, within all of Israel, so that all be guided on the path leading toward the dwelling of Hashem and to follow him in his elevation, until there is fulfilled the promise according to which "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Hashem." מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מב' שבט והפ"נ המוסגרים בו, שיקראו בעת רצון על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.

ובמ"ש אשר דעת יחיד הכריח לשלוח את פב"פ מישיבת תו"ת, מובן שמבהיל הדבר, ובפרט למי שדיעה נכונה לו בתורת החסידות הדרכותי' ומנהגי', שמזה מובן מהו פירוש גירוש ח"ו, מלהסתפח בנחלת ה', והאריכות בדבר הפשוט אך למותר. וחבל על הזמן ההולך בשקו"ט בענינים המצערים ופשוטים מצד עצמם, בה בשעה שיכולים היו לנצלו על ענינים מסוג אחר לגמרי.

בודאי הכינו את התלמידים שיחיו באופן המתאים ליום ההילולא יו"ד שבט הבע"ל, ועאכו"כ ביום ההילולא עצמו. ויה"ר שזכות בעל ההילולא יגן על כאו"א מאתנו, בתוך כלל ישראל, לנחותו בדרך העולה בית א-ל, ולסייעו בהליכה בה עדי יקוים היעוד ומלאה הארץ דיעה את ה'.
