To the Zalmanov family,

I greet you and bless you,

I respond to your letter of Isru Chag* Pesach*, in which you tell me that the position of Shochet* at Tel Aviv is being proposed to you (note 1: Following the passing of the previous Shochet, the father of the addressee, Rav Shmuel Zalmanov. See, on this subject, letter no. 8105). The question that arises is, in this case, the following: to which member of the family (note 2: One of the sons or the future son-in-law) will it go? Your letter seems to indicate that the community will accept your decision whatever it may be, which is somewhat surprising, for it should have its own opinion in this matter. Based on the situation and foreseeable developments, there is no reason to postpone, for a long delay, the decision that must be made in this matter. Consequently, if it has not yet been decided who will marry the sister (note 3: Whether he will be a Shochet), one of the sons will hold these functions. Of course, the candidate will have to obtain the agreement of his wife for this.

If all the wives (note 4: Those of all the brothers) accept and to the extent possible, it would be judicious for these functions to go to Rav Yechiel Michel Yehuda Leib Shlita* (note 5: See, regarding him, letters no. 7950 and 8091), for his name is mentioned in the testament, on condition that another brother becomes, in his place, the Shochet* of Ramat Gan (note 6: A position he himself held until then). If, for a certain reason, it is difficult for this to be so, one of the two other brothers will hold the Tel Aviv position, preferably the one who knows how to perform a rapid Shechitah*. May Hashem lead each of you on the path that will be good for him, both materially and spiritually, and may your mother have a long and pleasant life, may she derive much Chassidic* satisfaction from all her children. במענה על מכתבם מא"ח הפסח, בו כתבים אודות המשרה דשו"ב דתל אביב, והשאלה מי מהמשפחה יכהן בה. וכנראה ממכתבם שאיך שיחליטו בזה תסכים הקהלה (אף שלכאורה קצת תמי' בדבר, כיון שע"פ רוב גם להם חוו"ד בענינים כגון דא). ומתאים להמצב והשינוים העלולים לבוא, כמובן אין כדאי לדחות הפועל בזה לזמן ארוך. ולכן אם אין עוד מוחלט מיול"ח של אחותם תחי' - יש על אחד מהבנים לקחות משרה הנ"ל, ומובן שזה צריך להיות בהסכם זוגתו של המועמד לזה. ואם כולן מסכימות ויש אפשרות בז"ה כדאי שיקח משרה הנ"ל הוו"ח כו' יחיאל מיכל יהודא ליב שליט"א כיון ששמו מוזכר בהצוואה, אבל בתנאי אם אחד מהאחים שי' יעשה שו"ב במקומו ברמת גן. אם מאיזה סיבה קשה לעשות כהנ"ל - אזי יקבל המשרה בתל אביב אחד משני האחים, וטוב יותר זה שיתלמד אומנות השו"ב מהיר. והשי"ת ינחם בדרך הטובה לכאו"א מהם בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד, ויאריך ימי אמם שתליט"א בטוב ובנעימים, ותראה רוב נחת חסידותי מכל יו"ח שיחיו.
