to communal needs, Rav Pinchas (note 1: Rav P. Althuiz. See, regarding him, letter no. 4305),

I greet you and bless you,

I have just received your letter of 25 Menachem Av*, with what it contained, the good news that you have been handed manuscript letters and writings of our masters (note 2: See letter no. 8124). May Hashem grant that you be as gladdened as I myself was upon learning this. I have good hope that this will be a good beginning and that the other manuscripts will also be obtained, then brought here, as you indicate at the conclusion of your letter. It is surely needless to specify to you that you must approach B. M. (note 3: Berl Mark. See letter no. 8124) once more to explain the importance of all of this to him. Perhaps one must propose that he realize a gain in this matter, including in the most literal sense, that is to say, to pay him money. As one can verify concretely, when the animal soul also finds its account therein, and not only the divine soul, the final result is obtained more quickly and in a more complete manner.

In two weeks, Rav Y. Weinberg (note 4: Rav Yosef Weinberg. See, regarding him, letter no. 7776) will return here, by plane, coming from the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt. He possesses American nationality and it would therefore be good for you to transmit these documents through his intermediary. Furthermore, he will surely have the manuscripts of the collection of Rav Slonim, about which he wrote to me and of which he has already brought a part. For various reasons, it is preferable that these manuscripts not be transferred here by a single person and at a single time, but rather in several times and by different persons. Furthermore, it seems to me that you spoke to me of a manuscript found at Mr. Schmerling's (note 5: See, on this subject, letter no. 6034). I thank you in advance for all of this. With my blessing for giving good news of all that has just been said, as well as of what concerns you personally, which includes, quite obviously, the improvement of your state of health,

ז"ע נתקבל מכבתו מכ"ה מנ"א עם המוסגר בו, בבשורה הטובה על שנמסרו לידו מכתבי גוף כי"ק וכן איזה ביכלעך, ויה"ר שתנוח דעתו כפי שהניח את דעתי בבשורה משמחת זו, כי תקותי חזקה שזהו התחלה טובה לקבלת שאר הביכלעך והבאתם אח"כ גם לכאן כסיום מכתבו, ובודאי למורת לעוררו לדבר עוה"פ עם ב.מ. שי' על גודל הענין אשר בזה... ואפשר יש מקום לעינן את ב.מ. שיהי' לו טובת הנאה מזה ואולי הנאה כפשוטה, ז.א. תשלום כסף, וכנראה במוחש אשר כשגם נה"ב יש לה הנאה מאיזה ענין נוסף על הנאת נפה"א, בא הדבר לבפו"מ בהקדם ובשלמות יותר.

כיון שבעוד שבועים יבקר באה"ק ת"ו הרה"ח וכו' מוהר"י שי' וויינבערג, הטס מאה"ק ת"ו לכאן, והרי הוא נתין ארצוה"ב, מהנכון הי' שימסור מהנ"ל על ידו, כיון שבטח יהי' בידו גם הביכלעך מעזבונו של הרב סלונים ע"ה אודותם כתב זה מכבר וגם הביא חלק מהם, ומכמה טעמים הרי טוב יותר שהביכלעך יביאום לכאן לא איש אחד בבת אחת כ"א לחלקם בין איזה אנשים כן כמדומה לי שכתב ע"ד ביכל דא"ח שאצל מר שמרלינג שי' ות"ח מראש על כל הנ"ל...
